Nice... Thanks for showcasing this place. One thing I have been wondering is about architects and/or design firms in Nicar. Do you know if Aprille came up with most of that idea and then relayed it to an architect? Or did she hire an architect to come up with the design. It seems that having a local architect would be highly beneficial in accomplishing the desired combination between native Nicaraguan type living and what would be possible to incorporate. Are there good resources to find architects or designers when one would want to remodel or build?

Nothing there requiring an architect. Architects are for structural changes, which are generally not allowed on colonial homes, especially in El Centro. This is all superficial and done by a general contractor (that's a friend of ours.) I do have a local architect, but one wouldn't be involved for this kind of project. I have him for my new home construction and hotel changes. Aprille and my team here is available (this is part of our business) and we have construction managers, general contractors, liaisons, architect, designer, etc. Aprille is the designer and project manager. Aprille, like me, is a restaurateur and hotelier in town.

@@ScottAlanMillerVlog Oh, fantastic! I spent 30 years plus as a union Electrician with the IBEW inside wireman for commercial and industrial projects in Boston Local 103. I've also managed small scale residential property and rooming houses. As I mentioned I wanna do some small scale hosting, with food offerings, a sort of wellness retreat with delicious alkaline plant derived dishes. Really looking forward to getting in the mix down there.

Do you suspect materials for such a renovation can be sourced in Nica? One question re flooding. I noticed a short wall outside as you filmed the street. Can heavy rain flood this?

Everything was sourced in Nicaragua. Bringing things in from the outside is super impractical, it would never be viable.

Do you mean the foundation or the paint? I've had people mention this before but I'm not sure what they are referring to. Houses here are all open, so any wall isn't going to stop anything as water would rush in the open doors and courtyards. Leon floods, but I've never seen it not contained by the streets. I think you are just seeing colonial decoration (which is required here) in the streets.

Addresses in Nicaragua are by landmark and on Google Maps it is literally "Casa Mango, Leon, Nicaragua". It comes right up. A lot.There would be some discount but they are busy at ~$150/night. so several thousand a month.
