I’ve always had to work within a very tight budget when decorating, relying on flea markets, garage sales, estate sales, and floor samples to make my spaces feel like my own. I’ve often wondered how my style might evolve if money weren’t a concern. That’s why I find these home tours so fascinating-where budget isn’t a limitation, and the homeowner’s personality and style are on display. I’m especially grateful to Liz Lange for opening her doors and giving us a peek into Grey Gardens 2.0. She’s a brave soul for letting us Grey Gardens fans inside! Big and Little Edie danced to the beat of their own drum, and Ms. Lange is doing the same. Also, I absolutely love the kitchen garden!

I’m very thankful that Grey Gardens has found its way into such good hands and that the integrity of the structure has been restored, and the interior layout honored. The kitchen and entry hall are a perfect dream and the summer room an inspiring interpretation on the original. Thank you, Liz, for incorporating such nice hardware on the exterior doors and on the cabinetry, and for bringing the floors and wood panels up to a fabulous luster. It does my heart good to see the gardens so gloriously planted and maintained - and indeed, that your vision for Grey Gardens is keeping the Hamptons of old alive and well. I would be as happy as the scallops on your walls to reside there, and appreciate you having taken the time to open your home for we strangers gazing from afar. As a fellow Islander, I share your wistfulness at what the East End has given way to… the angular buildings on tiny parcels which seem almost an assault upon nature rather than harmoniously co-existing with it. The winding roads shaded by the bows of lovely trees can hardly be enjoyed for the congestion on the roads and the hustle and bustle that the region was once meant to be a departure from. In any event, I wish you and your cadre of animal inspired artwork many happy years within those walls! ~jls

What a treat to see Liz Lange share her labor of love in restoring Grey Gardens. She is incredibly talented and I feel like I should have paid admission to have her give this personal tour. Absolutely incredible!

Ms. Liz Lange thank you for sharing your outstandingly beautiful East Hampton house and all the intimacies with all of us that enjoy and like interior design/gardening and home renovations. You are a lovely, amicable, sweet, intelligent woman with a unique taste. Happy Summer 2024 and all the best.
