I like the kitchen! I preferred the white before pic. I would make a divider out of anything but fabric or at least keep them sheer white. Too much fabric and assorted colors. Halfway painted walls of diff colors and trims with varying edges makes it look like it missed the mark. But to each their own. I love her quote about interior design really a self-discovery journey!

I get it, drawers are super functional and any kitchen that doesn't have them can lack in functionality (not everyone wants to put their flatware in a caddy). But she got rid of 5 sizable upper cabinets, dishwasher and range, downgrading to a cook top and drawers and a cart that sits out. I don't get it. And if she moves out, you know the landlord isn't going to spend the money to put everything back.

I know she made some very odd decisions when she redecorated the kitchen.. i would never get rid of a good oven and dishwasher. Plus she crammed tons of stuff into those drawers.. ikea kitchen drawers are good... but all that stuff laying out in the open by the pillar just looks awful.. she should either replace the upper cabinets or get rid of a lot of her stuff... The cart isnt a bad idea for cooking but she should put the cart just inside the closet when she's not cooking.. I like a lot of her design choicez in the studio.. snd i love the velvet.. and even the curtains - but i think the curtains should be a neutral cream or something... that way the color on the walls would tell the story.. I dont like the wavy border of the pink color.. but stopping the green color about 1/3 if the way up the wall is a great technique to make it feel cozy and warm.. she didnt need to paint all the way to the ceiling..

Those heavy curtains makes they place look smaller. With those high ceilings and her shortness a loft bedroom would have been a good idea. The all whiteness in my opinion looked much better and made the place look larger. She also has too much 'stuff' which makes the place look really cluttered. But then again it's her place and she has a right to decorate it to make herself happy.

I like some of her ideas.. but i would have done the curtains in a warm cream or other neutral.. the red and yellow do not look good with the green and pink... And her kitchen is a mess.. too much clutter because she took away the upper cabinets.. plus she took away the oven and the dishwasher.. cant believe the landlord let her do that..

I seem to be missing something. This is a rental? Why would you spend this much effort and money on someone else’s place? Would an owner even allow it?
@fishercourt11 ай бұрын
I’m really confused on how she doesn’t see all of the holes in the walls. She said she did a lot of DIY projects and then kept redoing projects until it worked right. I’m pretty sure that the landlord didn’t tell her to just do whatever she wants because the amount of work and money spent on renovations, seems like she changed everything so much leaving a whole lot of holes in walls and ceilings. As a former renter, I was told to never make any holes in the walls or paint anything. She painted everything and did so much renovations that the actual apartment layout is so different and for what purpose, to live in a nice place that makes her feel comfortable? I imagine this might be her first apartment lease, but hopefully she knows that she will have to spend a lot of money and pay for laborers to fix it back. But, she seems young and she will learn through her mistakes and will have to take responsibility for the landlords demands. Hopefully, she lives there for a long-term, and I hope she enjoys her space, she seems to be happy, that’s what matters most. ❤
@millab103110 ай бұрын
Yeah... I'm from NYC and can only afford to rent too. I've been at my apartment a decade and have painted and made plenty of holes in the walls. My landlord has no idea but the super has been in my apartment for repairs and doesn't care. I still wouldn't do as much as this girl did, it's too much to have to change back to normal once you leave
@brizzle39039 ай бұрын
Yes an owner would allow a renter to renovate so as long as they had permission to do so, I’m certain the owner gave her permission to do so and more than likely looked at the plans before they said yes Some landlords don’t mind especially if it can save them money on having to do it themselves
