I love House as a show, but I really struggle to enjoy season 8. The lack of Cuddy is a big factor, and the constant "if you step out of line - you're going BACK TO JAIL." The finale to season 7 was really a jumping the shark moment and the show struggled to come back from it. Also, I really cannot believe they decided to pay Olivia Wilde over getting Lisa Edelstein back for the final season. Just a very dumb decision not to have such a pivotal character not involved in the series finale.

Totally agree. No way would he not see Cuddy when he was in that burning building either. To me S8 just sucked. Especially making Wilson get cancer and House will lose his best friend and can no longer practice medicine. So that’s shite.

Agree it was also told by Laurie that the producers didn't understand at all how pivotal Cuddy was as a character. They treated her like some very minor character arc and paid her like that. Cuddy was more instrumental to the show than 13. But that season also had a huge problem besides not being true to House character. The new characters sucked to the extreme. Park without any talent to act or even speak and the other mediocre written and acted

Even though overall I enjoyed season 8 because it still got great characters and storylines (except the ending imo), I agree with you. House would never drive into anyone's, well, house, that was too much even for him. That jail/probation thing was also too much and how they turned him from a difficult genius to practically a child that needs constant monitoring. Season 7 ending undid all the progress House had during season 6 and first half of season 7 (their break-up also sucked and not because of Cuddy but because they made House incapable of supporting her which is not true because he was shown to support her in crucial moments even before they got together). Betrayal of both Edelstein as the actress and Cuddy as the character was also a big mistake.

@@listrahtes I agree about Cuddy/13 and Park... But Adams was not bad, I think. Especially how she met House or how she shamshed up things after finalizing divorce. Guest actors were solid, for example the patient and Drew's father in this episode. Imo.

Yeah. Season 8 still has its high points, in particular Wilsons Cancer storyline and Chases character, but even as a teenager (when I had much lower standards) it always felt like something was missing. And while I diddnt mind Park and Adams, I think trying to introduce and develop a whole 2 new main cast members in the final season was a mistake.

Usually its a budget issue. Takes more time/props/effects/people to make good effects. Season 8 had a smaller budget, which is why Cuddy’s actor left, everyone but Taub and Chase was new and lesser known actors (which are cheaper), etc.

@@dawnlovedobermans So there was this kid who died mysteriously of an unknown disease at the time. House investigated and found out that the kid died from a rare genetic disorder. So the kid's parents divorced, because the kid died. They never knew the reason. The dead kid's mother married another. And had another kid. So House decided to go to the kid to find out if he has the same disease. But there was a cure. House proved his point and what follows was a sad exchange between the kid's divorced parents. Turns out, it was the grandfather who had the genes of the disease. And the kid got it from him. So the parents come to the realization that it wasn't their fault at all. Lives were ruined because they did not know what that kid has. It was sad for me because the kid's death was so easily prevented.
