Household Cavalry horses cause 'total mayhem' after bolting through central London

Military horses have caused "total mayhem" after bolting during exercises and charging through central London in rush hour.
The Household Cavalry said the animals were spooked by builders dropping rubble from a height "right next to them".

Perhaps it's time for the army to consider whether or not the use of horses in everyday duties in a city like London is being done more for tradition than necessity. It's still nice to see them at Horse Guards and during royal ceremonies, but do they really need to be in the city all the time for other reasons?. A city like London is not really a very nice environment for a human, let alone a horse. When they are not taking part in events and ceremonies, they should be out in the countryside in fields not near building sites.

Does anyone else suspect that maybe this was somehow caused in order to give an excuse to disband it all? I don't mean to guards were involved in any deliberately caused bolting. well done the people who comforted the black horse there, it is not easy... I had a horse friend (we were vaulting together normally), when he was scared by a big machine once, and I had to calm him down, bringing him away from it...luckily we were around his normal surroundings so far, that helped.... Horses are so nervous even when they are the calmest personalities usually so there is no telling what might happen when something like that happens. Horses will be Horses... always expect the unexpected with them. But the white horse I believe is not just some white horse, it is a special horse... is what I think at least, maybe (hopefully) I am wrong... special as in, it belongs to someone special... not?
