Horses can be funny about some things. I have a home-made vehicle that is like a motorcycle with a closed body. Overtaking a horse at low speed and a respectful distance is no problem; the horse can see that the vehicle has gone past without doing any harm and is now getting further away. Passing a horse in the opposite direction is another matter altogether; I have had to hide the vehicle behind a wall so that a woman could get her horse to go past. Police/army horses whom I have encountered with this vehicle do not seem to have the same problem. I can imagine that many horses probably had this problem with vehicles of any sort when the vehicles were first introduced.

I have been astonished at some of the inane comments here. Some folk especially denigrating the injuries suffered by those poor soldiers and implying they deserved to be injured. A few people even lumping in the cyclist as the human toll was superfluous and that only the care of the horses mattered. Some saying that horses belong in the countryside. Anyone who knows the history of the household cavalry and the various military units which make up these precision trained soldiers and horses would know that this was an unfortunate incident caused by a freak amount of noise heard blocks away. These horses are used to normal traffic and crowd noises. This noise was beyond the usual parameters. They are military horses, extremely well trained to work and they serve an important role. Part of their habitation at the Palace includes a large grassy area where they can frolic and they are very regularly taken to a rest and recuperation area in the countryside. They’re the best looked after horses in the world. Please don’t see them as horses which are abused in any matter at all. Horses have been trained and worked with humans for thousands of years.

@@MultiGodfather Interesting. Are there multiple versions? I'm only familiar with, "And I looked, and behold a pale horse, and his name that sat upon him was Death, and Hell followed him." - Revelation 6:8 King James Version
They should be free to be where horses should be ,not in the streets of London.

@@aliciarobertson4979 No matter how well you think they're cared for, horses to me seems like a novely at this point. They deserve to run free in the wild where they belong.
@aliciarobertson49798 ай бұрын
@@Leo-gy7we Unfortunately, not all horses could be allowed to be in the wild again. There is insufficient land for that to happen today in today’s sprawling urban settings which now occupy the land that they may have roamed over many centuries ago. There would be a need for many of them to be culled as happens to all wild herds these days. It is a fact that horses were domesticated thousands of years ago to be work animals and they are still necessary to work on farms in areas where machinery is unable to be used due to the topography, or where machinery is cost prohibitive in third world countries because the people have to continue farming to feed themselves. Sadly, your altruistic concerns for these horses isn’t going to change anything for them in 2024. You certainly could forward your concerns in writing to the commanding officers of the cavalry units concerned. I’m sure you would receive the courtesy of a reply.

Just one issue, horses don't know what lions are. They're not natural to the same locations.
