Wow, thanks for the likes! If you want to support me then just keep on watching, and please spread the word if you've got any friends who are also struggling. I hope your school manages to sort out the problem with your lack of science teacher soon, and in the meantime I'm going to keep uploading more resources as fast as I can make them! Thanks for your comment, and good luck!

Hi I just wanted to thank you so much for the amount of help and confidence your videos are giving me. Im studying for my GCSE's that start on Friday but unfortunately due to health complications I've been in hospital for 3 weeks now. I'm trying to keep up my revision by doing 6-7 hours a day but its obviously a challenge (I also really struggle with my sciences). After finding your channel I have become much more confident and feel I'm already ready to sit my exams. Thank you so much Mr Thornton. Good luck everyone, not long now!

Hi Abbie, I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been well, and I'm glad I can at least help a little. For what it's worth, it sounds like you're doing more revision than a lot of students will be doing. I know it's tough doing revision at the best of times, so to be in hospital at the same time must be awful, but so long as you give it your best shot - so long as you know that *you* can be proud of the work you've done - that's really all anyone expects of you. I'm sure your family, friends and teachers will feel the same. Personally, I think you're really brave, I hope you feel better soon, and I wish you the very best of luck with your GCSEs.

Since we get electrical energy from the mains, why do we need to use power supplies in things like basic light bulb circuit experiments in school? Is that so we can limit the voltage/current to a safe level? If it is, is it the voltage or current we are limiting, or both?

Past exam papers are covered by copyright held by the exam boards, which makes it impossible to cover them without risking a copyright strike on my account and losing my good standing with KZbin. I will, however, be giving out more general advice closer to the exams.

just wanna say I'm going to be your class of 2017 :D recently I've had a real bad thinking for science and never worked properly... but now I'm going to see how my grade improves from that D hopefully with more work from now on. do you think it's possible? :")
@ChrisThorntonUK8 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. In my experience the biggest factors in whether or not a student does well are whether or not they actually believe they can (I genuinely believe that aside from people with the most severe barriers to learning, most people are capable of getting a grade C so long as they do some decent preparation), and whether or not they put the effort in. You've got just over 6 months until your exams, so set yourself a target to spend 10-20 mins a night revising one topic you struggle with for now. You can increase the amount as you get closer to the exams, but just keeping that knowledge circulating in your brain will all add up by the time we get around to May 2017 :) Good luck!

Why does the neutral wire carry 0V of electricity?
@ChrisThorntonUK7 жыл бұрын
It's not that the wire carries any particular voltage - it carries *current* - that's what's moving around. The voltage is just a measure of how much energy the current is carrying at that point. By the time it gets through the appliance and back to the neutral wire, the current should have expended all of its energy.

Christopher Thornton ah thank you so much I understand now :)

Just a bit of advice for all of you struggling with revision as I am, the best way to remember the things you've revised is to teach it to somebody else, remember to make notes on videos such as this one and to test yourself on the things you think you've learnt, because any question can pop up in those exams, good luck to you all.
