A cleaning lady got the surprise of her lifetime, forcing her to put down her mop and pick up a glass of champagne instead. Cara Simmons, a single mother-of-three from Cleveland, Ohio, recently received a surprise visit from Prank It Forward - an organization dedicated to doing 'pranks for good'. She was secretly filmed as she was sent to a house to clean it, before being told the four-bedroom property, pictured bottom right, was hers to keep 'forever', pictured left. She was nominated for the honor after family members paid tribute to her hard work raising four children, pictured with her top right.

Mira Parker I don't know about that. The cost associated with owning a home that size is not cheap. Once you think about utilities every month, home owners insurance, $1000s in property taxes every year, etc. I seriously doubt a single mother can keep up with that. That's what I hate about these shows like this, they make it look so great and they're helping the family so much when they're actually putting them in a worse situation. If she is lucky she can sell the house but that's usually after they're already in financial ruins and have no choice. Look up the people that were given homes on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Look how they turned out. Most say it was the worst mistake they had ever made. Sad.

First Name: Katy the average annual tax for Ohio based on the average home price is 2k. The average home insurance cost is about $800 for the year. I don’t live in Ohio but regardless of whether you rent or own, you still pay utilities around here so it’s likely she was already paying money in utilities either way though it may be more now that she owns. Of course there’s other costs like maintenance etc but that’s still huge savings from the average cost of $1100 for an 800 square foot apartment in Cleveland, Ohio which is too small for her and her kids anyway. So I still think it significantly helps her financial picture even if she chooses to sell and we don’t know if they included things like property tax with the house.

I only agree. 50% but success or failure comes from within not just being handed things no matter how deserving. I am especially happy for her fortune, gifts. But I don't believe success is based on where you live and what your given. I have not had a easy life and have grafted for everything I have. No mummy or Daddy to the rescue, friends or family or strangers. I built my own success like so many others. To have a better life in my adulthood. But that takes determination, bumps and knocks along the way and a desire to do better for yourself despite the circumstances.
