He also knows the importance of keeping some info secret at the expense of lives especially on your own team. CIA and the NSA are really bad at this, they would rather frag whole field offices than compromise one tiny piece of info, which is why the attack on the embassy in Benghazi was so bad the CIA would rather sacrifice a US Ambassador than possibly compromise some piece of intelligence they may have even if they don’t know it. Ironically during the Cold War MI6 and the KGB weren’t as bad to their own, to be fair the KGB didn’t trust anyone who wasn’t KGB and even then it was still iffy

I'm Brazilian, the intoxication due to consume of Castanhas do Pará, (Brazilian nut) is almost impossible. For it to be true, you would need to consume 30 units a day for several days, and you would have to be a fool to keep eating it consistently after feeling the collateral effects of the selenium poisoning. Oh! and after he came back from Brazil he would kept his record of eating 30 Brazilian nuts a day to keep getting worse.

Oh, Chad Willet. He played Jean de Metz, in the 1999 Canadian TV movie Joan of Arc starring Leelee Sobieski. (Jean de Metz was a gentleman and squire of Robert De Baudricourt who was enamored to Jehanne's cause. He gave her male attire to wear and was instrumental in getting powerful men to accept her. He remained devoted to her and testified at her trial as to her utter chastity as he was always with her and they slept side by side (in all their fastened attire of course). I know it may seem a bit more corny than the Hollywood film The Messenger but I never liked that one as it sort of degrades a heroic character. I think the Sobieski version is more engaging and more true to the historic narrative and personalities of the various historic characters. And Peter O'Toole plays a bishop. My thats quite a tangent I've gone on.

Carnival lasting 40 days, which is longer than the one in Bolivia
@MrLantean22 күн бұрын
The sick agent mentioned that he attended a carnival while being posted in Bolivia that lasted for 40 days. That's the clue that allows House to deduce where he is actually posted prior to becoming sick. He was posted in Brazil instead of Bolivia as carnival in Bolivia last 8 days. It has been established that he ate a lot of chestnuts prior to becoming sick. The other doctor hypothesizes horse chestnut poisoning as the nuts are toxic. However House ruled it out as horse chestnuts were inedible due to its very bitter taste. House is able to find that the chestnuts that the sick agent ate are actually Brazil nut. However, in Brazil, the nuts are known locally as castanha-do-pará which meant chestnuts from Para. It is of course not a type of chestnut and are only known internationally as Brazil nuts. The sick agent is suffering from selenium poisoning from eating too much Brazil nuts.
@GamerLeFay22 күн бұрын
He was talking about being on the job during Carnival (the celebration of life that leads into the season of Lent) and the dances the women did, then said that he spent the whole 40 days [of Carnival] with one particular diplomat. Different countries celebrate Carnival differently, and House realized that Bolivia (where the guy was supposedly on assignment) only celebrates it for 8 days, but Brazil does celebrate it for 40.
