Chuck is right. Luka should play game 4 if he's even 70% healthy. You don't want this series extending to 6 or 7 games, and then have Luka play all those games. Rather he play in game 4 on a minutes restriction and Dallas close out Minnesota so they get 9-10 days of rest.

I get Chuck's point. But all you "tough guys" will probably think he's soft (like Shaq and Chuck here). I wouldn't rule him out completely, but if they win game 3 and get off to a great start in game 4, I wouldn't play him after the first quarter. He's right. Luka's out there playing hurt. If they can afford to let him rest and give him as much time to recover as possible, they should. But again, the prerequisites are the should win game 3 and they should have a good start in game 4.

He's wrong though. You can see from Dallas' defense that they would have been even tougher for Denver to score on. The only advantage Denver has is Joker and the lobs to Lively and Gafford would have been RAINING all series long. Nobody on the team can cover Luka, nobody can cover Kyrie. Kyrie could clamp down Murray WAY better than Edwards did (especially with him limited by the injury). Denver has no bench and Dallas would have gotten all the open looks they could want for Jones, PJ, and Green.

I love how they have to make up narratives to keep the series "interesting" to talk about even though. Let's be clear, the only thing you can say is that most of the games were very close, or that the Wolves have had the lead in the 4th quarter of every game so they can just capitalize on what they do right up until that point and understand what to keep doing to push through with their season on the line. That being said, the proper counter to that is "yeah, and if you make it to the 4th quarter within range of Luka and Kyrie, you realize you haven't fully been fighting against Luka and Kyrie. Sure, they've had some impressive scoring and production that you kept up with for most of the game, but now they have another gear you won't get the better of. The response to Kenny Jackson: is this: the Mavs don't need a super specific game plan when it's late. Luka and Kyrie will take what the defense "gives" them to close games, sometimes making impossible shots you have to live with. You have to be a team that keeps their composure when the going gets rough and you're down against guys that seem to have all of the weapons against you.

Amazingly both of them would be facing off against Boston. They were down 2-1 before winning the final three games, playing 40 minutes in game 6. Luka knows his body. Surely they can decide what he can do and not do.

Having 2 iso threats on the floor together is what makes this Mavs offence so unguardable. Take off either Kai or Luka, the Wolves can simply put the clamps on one of them and the rest of the Mavs can't create for themselves.

The problem with that is if they lose the opportunity to sweep, you have to bring back Luka only a tiny bit rested to play in Minnesota. By the time they get back to Dallas it would be 3-2 and one win away from a game 7 in Minnesota. Finish it off now and take the rest before the Finals. Play Luka as little as possible and hopefully the role players will keep up the shooting at home. But finish it NOW....

Chuck was absolutely right. First point being a bad match up. KAT can does not want to dominate in the post so the Wolves role players should play well to keep it close and the role players did. Match up wise the team played well against the wolves bench. Game 3 and lively was out early but the still manage to finish the game plus both Luka and Kyrie plays just enough to close which is smart so they can rest for the finals.

What chuck was trying to explain imo is this: Ant and KAT aren't playing well because of the defense of the mavs. The role players on the Mavs just aren't playing well. The defense has nothing to do with them not hitting shots. Its as simple as that. On top of that, the wolves role players have come to the party. Thats the difference.
