The only center I ever saw play that didn't have a major flaw to his game. Best defensive center ever, could score from anywhere, best post game ever, great passer, clutch mentality, great leader and above all else an amazing human being. Dream is easily and definitely my pick at center for my all time squad.

Kareem didn't have any major or minor flaws. Don't get me wrong, I love Hakeem and he's 2nd on my list of all time centers but prime Kareem was everything Hakeem was and then some.

Kareem was an all around force from college to the pros from day one and had longevity like no other. The Dream learned basketball late but his skills from playing soccer made him an instant great defender. He was able to develop later to become a great offensive player. His prime ended to injuries around 96. Kareem was a better scorer. Hakeem's a better defender with steals and blocks.

@@oof3479 Clyde was a nobody, ok pal. That's why back in the 90's there were conversations about who were one of the shooting guards who could get closer to Michael Jordan. With the trail blazers he went to the finals twice in 1990 and 1992, and when he was traded to the rockets, he won a championship in 1995. @Yao AssBlaster Ming I didn't say he was the greatest player of all time, although he is one of them. Jordan placed him on his personal all-time starting 5. Shaq rated him the #1 center of all time. These guys played against him and knew how good he was.
@AKSBSU
@AKSBSU 5 жыл бұрын
@Yao AssBlaster Ming Many consider Abdul-Jabbar to be the best center of all time. Probably most do. I'm 41 and watched Kareem play as a kid. I thought he was the best player who ever lived when I was a kid. Many years later I have both in my top 5, Olajuwon at #4 and Kareem at #5. Kareem had a much more decorated career and better longevity. However, he was on a dynasty Lakers team, which goes a long way towards collecting rings. On the other hand, Olajuwon was dominant against some of the greatest centers of all time during the golden age of physical defense and star centers and while on a team with no help for almost a decade between R. Sampson's injuries and trading for Clyde during his second and last championship run. I've never seen a center play at the level Olajuwon did in the mid 90s against that absurd level of competition. So it's better career versus who played at the highest level against the toughest completion. Obviously I greatly respect both given they are both in my top 5 all time. I could see why others would see things differently. I have just laid out why I rank Olajuwon so highly contrary to popular opinion.
@AKSBSU
@AKSBSU 5 жыл бұрын
@Yao AssBlaster Ming Hakeem was definitely better than both Kobe and Shaq. Horry played with Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan and didn't hesitate to say Dream was easily the best. "The Dream was the best. He had everything the other two had, but more....What defines these bigs is not what they could do, but what they could not do, and the Dream could do everything."
@AKSBSU
@AKSBSU 5 жыл бұрын
LOL. Kobe came to Olajuwon to learn how to play. The impressive footwork and post play you probably attribute to Kobe was from having Hakeem as a tutor teaching him those moves. And you have the nerve to call ME ignorant? Have a look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIKpZJuNmdhgjNk&app=desktop So glad you said Kobe of all people. That was entertaining.

Wilt can jump higher then Hakeem. When Hakeem and Rockets played Kareem. Ralph Sampson guarded Kareem. If Hakeem was so great a defender then why was he not guarding Kareem ? Wilt guarded him and blocked his skyhook multiple times, stoled the ball. Wilt handled Kareem. Rockeys had Ralph Sampson guard Kareem. Wilt could steal the ball with 1 hand while jumping 2 to 3ft into the air. Wilt blocking ability is beyond Hakeems. Bigger hands, higher jump, longer arms.

David Robinson is slower than Wilt. Does not jump as high. Wilt is a better defender. On and On. FYI Wilt had Russell as competition and Russell is better than Ewing, Hakeem, Kareem, Robinson at defense. Russell in Wilt's best season held Wilt under 30 Only 2 times. 27pts each time.

He used to make that same move with Rod Strickland hanging on to the ball and was still strong enough to hit fadeaway! He did that to Penny also

I loved, loved this game. I hadn't cared much for the NBA for a few years, but the Rockets got me back in cuz I loved Olajuwon. Then Clyde joined the team. so I was watching this series. Dream was phenomenal in these playoffs. I still remember them going to the bench during a timeout and Robinson was in a full daze, just shaking his head. Robinson was an all-time phenom himself, but Olajuwon was hitting on all cylinders of his skill set at 100%.

The crazy part about Hakeem is he didn't play basketball growing up. He picked it up much later than most who make it to the NBA, and had moves that folks still try to duplicate.

Hakeem's wingspan is crazy. He put on a masterclass in there and he schooled Robinson and the Worm. Next he then schooled Shaq. Definitely my all-time starting Center. That midrange is automatic and his defense is the absolute best.
