Isn’t your fireplace wall an accent wall? Sure looks like an accent to me ! 😮😊❤
@Angelia_ColoradoСағат бұрын
@@GG-si9we Not sure V considers Black an accent color…it’s more her core color 🤣🥰. Most people have their fireplace covered with brick stone wood or paint so I just consider it architectural feature. I have a 4 sided fireplace that I covered with pole wrap (fluted wood) I maybe the only that likes it but I love it. Sort of mid century organic modern…if that’s even a thing 🥰 Hope everyone had a great weekend!

My bookshelf is 98% books, and 2% practical reading related “decor” such as marble bookends, decorative box filled with bookmarks and my extra book light clip, and an antique magnifying glass.

💯 agree with all of it! An option for cord issues, I use Sleek Socket outlet and cord concealer. It’s great for when the only outlet is visible and not hidden behind furniture. Available on Amazon. Maybe I got that suggestion from you originally. Have a great week V!

I think you can have different styles of lamps on either side of the bedroom/living room as long as they complement each other and fit the overall aesthetic of your room.

Question about color drenching. Do you use flat or eggshell on walls and then satin on trim - all in same color - or other finish combo? Oh, and what finish for the ceiling?

*Book Shelf Styling and Gallery Walls* . I worked with a friend on her family room refresh. She had the room freshly painted and one long wall with built-ins that we color drenched in a matte finish. She's an avid reader with many books. I proposed removing all the book jackets and creating groupings by spine color. We created triangular vignettes with framed photos and objects. The end result was resting placing for the eye. We also did a gallery wall over her sofa using all the same frames and matting with 2 inch spacing for a collection of 12 prints. It's dramatic! I had to giggle about the "accent wall", say's the lady filming in a white room with a black accent wall. ~ ❤

I love the console at 3:11❤ All the other designers out there are saying accent walls are back in. And yes, I agree it really looks great with some wallpaper like grass cloth. And I think color drenching only works in designated rooms like dining room rooms perhaps bedrooms, but not in an open concept kitchen/great room.

I agree with most of your points in your videos, but your repeated criticism of books on bookshelves really gets to me. Like you, I don't like clutter and things looking too busy. However, I think that just books on bookshelves creates a uniform look. Different decor items on bookshelves actually seems like clutter to me.

Those PB shelves looked messy because they didn't have *enough* books in there and they were falling over. You could stack some books to help keep others upright but it does make it more awkward to access that book you want to read or reread from the bottom of the stack! However, since I live in a *very* tiny space (under 400 sq ft) and I do have sentimental memorabilia I want to display too, I have doors on the bottom half of a couple of BILLY bookshelves. The bottom is for miscellaneous books and the doors visually calm that area. Then the top half of each bookshelf can be styled with memorabilia that I love. But the ideal as an avid bibliophile is to have them filled with books (instead of having so many books in storage).

I understand what you’re saying about the gallery walls getting too crazy….but I do think variety in art (including various sizes and frames) can be very interesting. Art is so subjective. Sometimes repeating the same thing can get boring. I think you just have to make sure they complement each other. Color drenching is interesting and I like it. But I have seen other designers (Nate Berkus) keep the trims white.
@gracegamboa18192 сағат бұрын
Well a nice collective gallery wall is better done hanging black and white art into a black and white house .this doesn't need a lot of creativity.

❤ 1) too much stuff/furniture; 2) no dog or cat 3) cluttered counters of ppl trying to show off their Le Creuset, Breville, Kitchen Aid pro mixer, Cuisinart...what did I miss? You don't use those everyday ppl; 4) generic art; 5) vibrant wall colors; 5) white painted trim with high contrast painted walls; 6) boob lights; 7) windows dressed so you don't see the outside

Love to have many books on my bookshelves. Have a few hand made ceramic pots/ sculpture pieces as accents. Using book shelves for decor cubbies doesn’t work. The sculptures need to be placed where they can be featured. Too contrived to be in book cases.

When will designers realize that people love accent walls!!!😂😂😂 they are not going anywhere. For instance, painting the whole room in black and repainting it later cause you didn't like it, is a lot harder than repainting one wall 😅
