I'm remodeling right now. Taking some of the suggestions. Keeping the renovation around 23,000. No moving of plumbing or electricity. i’m doing stainless steel and champagne, brass finishes, white and natural wood cabinets. not the fanciest remodel, but it’s gonna make a big difference in my house. I’m not for sure if I’m gonna live here forever.

I’m so confused. I thought traditional homes and kitchens were back. Have we already flipped back to ultra modern? I’m planning a new coastal cottage build overlooking a bay. Would this style work? Now I’m wondering if I need to re-think my style. Will coastal cottage look dated in 5 years?

I have Travertine in my kitchen & love the idea of an integrated sink in my island using that material ( I have a stainless steel sink & I hate it). My fsovetop also in the island is induction. Where can you purchase an Integrated sink? Thanks!

I live in an apartment, but If I had a house today and was redoing my kitchen I would rip EVERYTHING out....lay terra cotta tiles on the floor, line the walls in a walnut "slab" of paneling from floor to ceiling, bring in industrial stainless steel countertop/ base units on wheels(the kind you find in restaurant kitchens), an industrial stainless sink base and fixtures, A really nice gas range with a polished red subway tile backsplash behind it running up to a black clad hood. Hanging from iron rods on ether side of the range would be a collection of stainless pots/pans and cast iron skillets as well as cooking utensils, etc.....I would bring in the tablet refrigerator, or one with glass doors. There would be no cabinetry. The "uppers" and even the pantry would be open shelves. Yes, that means "nicer stuff" (to a degree....I would probably just keep everything a simple crisp white ceramic) and presentable storage/organization systems, like canisters and baskets, and yes, it means more cleaning...but I do a nightly kitchen clean/reset anyway. Other things that would not be there: An island, a dishwasher, A microwave, A toaster. Basically, it would be a decorated, "homey" warm industrial restaurant kitchen in my house.....and it would be a galley kitchen.....but I'm A weirdo who USES his kitchen.

Good video on trends. These trends are def not for me. I don’t like the slab look. It lacks personality and warmth for me. Will be doing a kitchen renovation next year so will def need to come up with a non slab plan.

Dark wood tones, like walnut, are DEFINITELY coming in.

Sorry, can't get behind #1 and #2......the integrated sink would have to be a HARD NO for me, ESPECIALLY in marble or Traverteen.......its way too porous(I use my kitchen and abhor dishwashers). I do like the idea of Graves teen in slabs on the wall/backsplash though

Integrated sinks…be careful some don’t have the emergency drain hole and if the drain stopper fails and the tap is accidentally left on, house flooding could occur! Happened to our bathroom sink! Terrible

I just painted my lower cabinets Behr’s Carbon black in high gloss. No regrets.

Actually, a lot of current trends are timeless; slab fronts (simple to look at and easier to clean), slab backsplashes (no grout lines, so easier to clean), cabinets that go to the ceiling, no hardware... Building a kitchen in 2024 can be pretty classic as long as you stay clear of trendy colours and choose the wood tone you like (it will inevitably go out of style and eventually come back again, so choose according to your taste and not what's in fashion).

I did a slab front cabinet 15 years ago in my old house & I’m doing the kitchen in my house now & staying with slab front. It’s my favorite & gives a mid century vibe. It’s timeless.

I do have a ceiling fan and couldn’t survive menopause without it unfortunately! Our room size would not accommodate a floor fan area. Maybe once I am over the hill and down the other side I can pull it down!

I redesigned my kitchen 2 years ago. I bought IKEA cabinets in black and I love it.

I just re did my kitchen and I didn’t do any of these trends; but I do love my kitchen anyway!

I changed out the green granite in our mountain home for a creamy white, but I failed to change out the traditional wood cabinets. I now wish I had, but my builder says that to do so would ruin my brand new counters. It that true? I would really like new wood grain, flat front cabinets. Any thoughts? It is a mountain home but not really a cabin. Any advice? Thanks!

I love tassel tie backs (or pull backs). I think it gives a classic, timeless look, not dated. It’s more traditional while straight down curtains is more modern, contemporary decor. I personally don’t like modern or contemporary, but that doesn’t mean dated. If you see any of the grand manor homes you often will see pull backs, because the style is more traditional. Even if you have a modest small house or apartment, you can still decorate it like a grand manor house.

I had an integrated sink and I will never again do that- when something happens to the sink, it also happens to your countertops. Kitchens are SO expensive to redo- forget the trends, go TIMELESS. More beautiful, imo, and timelessness is so much more intentional and ultimately, expensive.

I don't want an all beige kitchen. It looks depressingly dull. Or all grey.
