Spider mites can be wiped out without treatment if you have the right environment. They hate moisture! I usually use Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew for them which works well, but in early 2021 I had one plant infested with spider mites and I didn't have the energy to treat it. I put it on top of one of my shelves that has no plants on it, right next to my humidifier. Kept up with the humidifier and about a week or two later I went to treat the plant and they were all gone! So since then, whenever a smaller plant has spider mites I just blast it with humidity (70% and higher) for a couple minutes. I keep an eye on it for another week or two to make sure they are gone and it's worked every time.

I love using Neem oil as well, Have you ever tried mixing a few drops of peppermint oil and rosemary oil with it? It makes the smell more acceptable and peppermint and rosemary are pest deterrents. I often plant them in my vegetable garden near tomatoes and other veggies as companion crops to keep away pest,

a few yrs ago, when i was just getting started with my plant obsession (let's call it its proper name XD), they got me a mint for my birthday and after a few months it's got spider mites too. i found garlic water to be extremely efficient, as well as it's lately been treating the aphids off another plant. i usually put one or two garlic cloves in some water, put it on the fire and let it until a few minutes after it starts boiling. let it cool and spray! hope it can be of any help to anybody

SNS 209 is a systemic, it's organic and helps with controlling and repelling them. I always give plants a shower, top and bottom of all leaves. Neem makes me gag, so I went looking for something else. Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew obliterates them. Now, I do the shower, let the plant dry off, drench the top and bottom of all leaves with Jack's then drench the top layer of soil by spraying heavily. The next day I sprinkle some diatomaceous earth on the top of the soil. Spider mites have never survived this in my house or on my patio. SNS 209 is good for plants I keep outside of if I can't find Captain Jack's. Both are organic and safe around pets! But, I'm telling you if you want to destroy any mites with a one off treatment - this is the way. Wash it well, spray every inch of the plant and DE. The DE is almost optional, makes me feel better tho even if I usually skip it. Also, just a tip - no need to stare for ten minutes. Get a piece of white paper, hold it under the leaves and flick the foliage with your finger. Spider mites will fall onto the paper and be highly visible. To check if it's dirt or not, wipe your hand flat across the paper. Spider mites will make dark, rust colored streaks. Its a 30 second Spider mite test. :3

alternative to neem oil if you can't get some!!!! let macerate a few garlic cloves in oil for a few months and voila! (to dilute in water like neem oil)

That's what sometimes makes it SO hard to figure out if you have a "good" or "bad" spider!😅 I've seen tight webbing like that before too and immediately assumed it was spider mites and had a total meltdown!🤣 I was new to indoor plants and didn't fully inspect them before freaking out and ripping all my plants down and showering/spraying them ALL down😬🤦😂

My "favourite" pest to treat is also spider mites! Easy to spot, easy to treat and my plants look really nice afterwards since they get a shower beforehand. Mealybugs, I like that they are easy to see but a lot of the time, for me, they are hard to get rid of. I have two plants that always have mealybugs, despite being treated multiple times. Doesn't matter if I use Isopropyl, remove them by hand, use a spray or a granule systemic- they are never actually gone. Thrips can wipe out collections too fast and if a single one hits adulthood, you have to treat your entire collection. Like with mealybugs, sprays and systemics seem to not work on scale, from my experience. I hate scraping them off but it's the only way I've had success getting rid of them.

That’s a good point- the end result of spider mite treatments is clean plants 😄💕 And you’re right about the mealybugs being persistent sometimes, i forgot about a months long struggle i had with mealybugs on some of my calatheas! I have a euphorbia trigona rubra that had little flying bugs around it (I’m a new plant person 😂), so I sprayed it with neem oil, oh, my god, that stuff STINKS!

ahh so sorry you didn’t know what was coming 😩😅! hope it’s not too bad smelling still!! you can try changing out the top layer of soil which can help with the smell and suppress the fungus gnat population because they usually lay their eggs in the surface of the soil. Oh my gosh i am so glad I am not the only one who thinks that neem oil smells incredibly bad!! I hate the smell so much!!! Most of my plants are in my bedroom, cuz I still live with my parents, so quarantining plants is really difficult and I hate having to use it cuz it's really hard to sleep for a few days because everything smells like neem oil, even if I air out my room like a madman when I use it.

The first time I used it I thought I must have gotten a rotten batch or something 😂 You can try covering the soil with a towel or plastic wrap before spraying neem and then the smell is much more manageable after the plant gets a rinse. Rooting powder isn’t necessary, but this is the one I use sometimes: amzn.to/3LgnCM6 I do think it helps with rooting on some plant propagations, and I like that it also helps protect the cuttings from infection by covering up cut. You can use a fertilizer to help your plants stay very green 🥰 Thanks so much for watching!💜✨

I like your jade plant. I've had my jade plant for 10 years and I've been trying to prune it into a tree.. I have to prune it more like you did to get more branches . I'm just so scared to over prune lol

aww a 10 year old jade, how special!😍 as long as it’s got some sturdy branches or trunk area I think it should be fine to prune it a lot. Mine was a gift my mom ordered from an online shop and it got really banged up in the mail, and by the time it arrived it had like fewer than 10 little leaves still attached and a lot of the branches were snapped😭 but it ended up growing a lot more little branches as a result and it actually regrew so fast. i bet yours would branch and regrow quickly after pruning too! good luck with yours, I bet it’s beautiful! 🤩🤞✨ thanks for watching Claudia 🥰💜

You can fully defoliate jade, or let a few leaves stay and it will bud back strongly. It’s a great way to prune them back and thicken up the branching!

I have a three panda paws and they all look different. One of mine might end up looking like yours but the other ones have a stalk, like a tree. Are there different types of panda paws that grow more vining like yours?

I’m not sure if there are specific varieties that have a trailing growth form, but it’s possible!🤔 I think mine is trailing because it’s just quite mature and i’ve never pruned it, and it’s gotten really overgrown in the way that succulents can eventually get stretched out and start to look very unique and sometimes spindly. I think the amount of light also really impacts the growth form, and they grow more compact and upright in brighter light. But I’m not sure about the varieties, didn’t find anything with an initial quick google search but I’m going to keep my eye out for info on these plants now! Thanks for asking! I’m so relieved for you about the spiders!!! I was going to ask if you’d leave them and if they ate Spider Mites. So interesting! I’m not a fan of spiders at all, but in this case, it’s definitely a good thing! Lol! Phew!! I have a few Hoya Hindu Rope plants and one of them is really wrinkled. I keep watering it, hoping it’ll absorb the water. How do I know if that part is dead? The ends are nice and firm and the leaves are beautiful - just not sure about the rest of it. They’re not brown and dried out. Just really wrinkled but still green. What do you think? 🤷‍♀️ Thank you for sharing!! 💜💚🪴🌵😁

Yeah i was wondering if there were webs from the other spiders on the f. umbellata because there used to be spider mites, so the other spiders could’ve found and ate them?🤔 I need to learn more about spiders now haha! On my hindu rope rescue, the leaves that had those kind of wrinkles ended up turning brown and dying off. Normally I would’ve suggested giving the plant a more thorough soaking when watering but since it didn’t seem to help on mine, I’m not sure!
