Was debating doing a little plant shopping today and my plant shopping envy has made that decision a no-brainer! Finishing the video and heading out! Congratulations on all the book signings 💚 and I hope you had an amazing visit with Nicole.

Definitely check out Sprout Chicago the next time you visit. They’re just down the street from the United Center in a cute funky lively neighborhood and they have an outdoor garden center on a terrace patio area that is so adorable. They have awesome handmade pottery, some rare and hard to find plants as well, a terrarium area, knowledgeable staff.... I just love the vibe in there.

Next time you come there are 2 more near Adams Sons and Daughters. Plant Salon which is a Black owned plant shop and Plantier which has more rare plants.

Loved this video!! Next time you’re here you’ll have to check out Gethsemane in Andersonville. It’s my absolute favorite and feels so serene, the staff is super helpful, and the selection is vast! Plus Andersonville has tons of cool shops to browse too - nice vintage resale shops!

Next time you are in town, you should visit Chicago Bloom. It’s a BIPOC owned independent shop (just like Adams & Son, Plant Shop).

Always take an insulated bag with you wherever you go so you can put plant purchases in it. A cooler works too. I’ve brought plants in the dead of winter from Va. to Mi. And they did really well, and if you have to spent the night somewhere just bring them in. ❄️💚🙃

hey, just wondering, you were talking about being cuban and never having been to a cuban restaurant and it made me think of being POC in the plant community. I was wondering, as such a cornerstone in the houseplant community, if you could maybe talk a bit about that because in my experience, most planty creators are white and I would enjoy, as a POC person myself, watching that content and just hearing a pretty un-talked about side of the community. thx :)
@BeccaDeLaPlants2 жыл бұрын
Hey!! First I’m honored that you consider me a cornerstone of the plant community - thank you for that!! What sort of topics would you want to hear about within that?
@grimmsoup38512 жыл бұрын
@@BeccaDeLaPlants Mostly just your general experience trying to make room for yourself as a poc in a very white and privileged space (because, let's face it, not everyone can afford a $300 monstera albo. I know I certainly can't!). I would love to hear about funny little plant things that have passed from generation to generation in your family or your roots and how plants were integrated into your life before you became so invested in them. Also just how you think about an navigate being in a majority white circle of plant collectors. I know a lot of extremely high value houseplants are also endangered and being taken from places in Asia, South America, Africa, ect, grown by workers in the communities often paid very poorly and then sold at inflated prices to rich white people. How do you try to not be a part of that cycle? Sorry this is so long!! Hopefully this nonsensical paragraph makes the tiniest bit of sense to u!
