While the song at first sounds sweet and buttery, it's actually a "memorial" to a group of friends Tortoriello had in his late teens. "Thematically, it’s almost like a ballet where you keep driving around the same blocks," he says. "And people start disappearing from the car because they’re going to jail or dying." Holy fuck can I relate...

I'm only 22 but this song speaks to everything I'm feeling in life right now: reminiscing about being a kid with no worries, both parents and two decent siblings. Now my old man is ashes, my siblings are assholes, and I love my mom and feel good for taking care of her partially. But I'd be completely lost without her, I'm jobless and afraid of the future that just seems to be coming faster and faster while just kind of fade into obscurity. I hope not.

Hey... so I’m 40. Turned 40 this year. That’s insane. Time absolutely flies by. I can remember being 22 like it was last week. You don’t feel any different at 40. Like, life changes but you’re still the exact same person inside looking out. Don’t waste your 20s even if life lately feels like shit. It’s not all bad and you are realllly young. Please don’t waste your youth. You will blink and it’ll be gone.

his voice, especially in this song, reminds me of old jazz/showtune singers like Bobby Darin and Sinatra, it really gives it a somewhat nostalgic sound especially when paired with the retro-sounding effects throughout the song. I feel like this is a song that everyone can identify with and each in their own way. we all ache for a time when we were different people. Nostalgia (n) coming from the greek "nóstos", meaning "homecoming", and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain".

I'm not sure who quackery is but this was a defining song for me and the end of 2018. Life wasn't going great, as an infantry soldier who served in Afghanistan, and with an originally optimistic start to a relationship it failed. I said fuck it all, im going to thailand. My anxiety was rocking and I could barely even leave my house. I had my flight booked but knew I couldn't do it. Finally after chasing however many doctors down I got a prescription for Ativan. Just 5 but this son came on during my drive home. it set me right. I spent over a year in thailand and really I probably listened to this song 4000 times! thanks

I just randomly rediscover this song from time to time and every time I cannot stop listening to it. It's just insanely good. Hitting worse (better?) now that I'm 23 and unable to do anything. I was born with pretty severe mental illness and it's only now sinking in that, yeah, I won't be able to really have a job or anything. I live with my parents and go to school part-time and it's becoming increasingly obvious that once school ends... I won't really have anything. I'm just devolving while everyone else is developing.

This song makes me somewhat emotional. I’ve always felt like I haven’t achieved anything even at 19 years old and I haven’t been in a good place due to my depression. “What if death is another pair of handcuffs” this resonates with me even now living, I feel trapped and I want a way out of it but I continue to yield. I just hope life gets better for us all. 🙁

Gotta thank my best friend for showing me this song. It's weirdly really nostalgic; sounds like something from the 2000s, like when I was in elementary school being babysat by my aunt and she'd drive me around in her shitty old beater, listening to, well. Music like this. Wouldn't expect it in today's music. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, dude.
