In my area IF dogs are allowed we pay a upfront fee (to help cover carpet replaced or wooden sills chewed by dogs) as well as a monthly dog fee.

I love how Jodi says "I'll pant walls a light color to give ilussion of being bigger". 🎩 🪄 nope still can't have dresser in bedroom 😮

Younger people today have such unrealistic expectations about housing versus budget. I'm a senior citizen. When I was young, we found a place we could afford to rent close to our desired neighborhood. Period. I don't remember anyone whining about carpets, closets, or views.
@jackiec8599 ай бұрын
I'm also a senior. When I was younger, there weren't so many options, and landlords knew it. Now, I fully take advantage of those options. No whining, but strategic bargaining with my landlord was key (the carpeting is coming up this year). I love my 151 year old home. I love my landlord. The neighborhood is clean and quiet. The rent (inclusive) is reasonable.

Keep in mind that this episode is from like 15 years ago so it doesn’t reflect today’s generation. And a lot of these people were like almost 40 lol So they’d be closer to your age than someone who’s currently in their 20s.

So the first bedroom is too small but the same size in the second apartment was OK?

You're lucky, that you can paint etc in rentals in the US. It's not very common here in the UK, when renting privately, unless it's social housing
@tourwithtayy6 ай бұрын
this is in Canada. it's also not common here, i'm assuming they work a way with the landlords to get special permission since they are filming for a show and have experience (and proof).

Dont you have to get Landlords permission before re-tiling Kitchen?

@@nai6474 I believe this show originally aired on HGTV from 2008 until 2012. Rents are easily $ 1,000 or more higher on these apartments in 2024. However, Jodi's design/decorating is still amazing. I wish HGTV would bring this show back.

How is charcoal gray a "natural tone"? I'm frankly blown away at what $1,650 can get by way of a luxury high rise view apt. when studio apts. in NYC go for $2,500 with no amenities.

This show is like circa 2009-2013 so rent in Canada is significantly higher in 2024!
