The ghost girl is the original Marine from her Treasure Box song. She perished within the box. The new Marine who challenges the ghost ship has inverted eyes.

the lyrics are also all about how Marine is the only one who can free herself from the delusion of eternal youth, and embrace the reality of aging the ghost marine is a symbol of her "forever 17" self, stuck in the box and dying, the ghost fading away after marine embraces her the "treasure" that marine is greedy for symbolizes the way she desires youth, and when she gives up the gold and destroys the dragon made of the same gold, it means she is letting go of her greed for youth it's all very good symbolism and metaphors

@@somnolentSlumber Yeah, playing it young and cute is all fun and games at the start but becomes unhealthy past a certain point...At least with this added lore she can still be "forever 17 because ghost don't age" as visuals goes but while embracing her real age. As for greed itself it may not be hers, the treasure box who provides riches is the cursed item just like the industry can be quite toxic in sticking to the contract even if the performer evolves beyond what their character was supposed to be at the start.

One thing I took away is that she is actually a sweetheart, something that I can only assume through this though. I've never actually watched Marine due to properly becoming a holofan just under two years ago and through Hololive English. I've never watched even a single translated VOD of Hololive JP, just some clips here and there, along with listening to some of their music.
