First of all, your analysis is fantastic. I just want to point that out. But there’s something I’m curious about. You put Şengün at the top of the 'Hard to Sub' list, and I agree he belongs there! But here's the thing: when we compare the total minutes played by the starting five over the first 10 games, Alperen has the fewest. Is that normal? Fred : 355 Jalen : 330 D. Brooks : 316 Jabari : 283 Alperen : 282

Thanks for the analysis. Important thing is if Udoka is going to waste this year as well for the sake of Jalen and forget about the lineup that gives you the best rating. As long as Jalen's efficiency does not improve by a great length, this team will not win big games. Currently his low efficiency despite his large playing minutes seems to be the most worrying factor. Even though Fred's shooting percentage is also low, his management of the game and ball handling would still be a great asset for the team. Besides, we expect him to improve in that field as the season goes and his playing times become somewhat lower, perhaps around 28-30 minutes.

Tari Eason has been insane this year. I get the politics but we need his energy in the starting lineup badly. That and like you said, Bari can probably really shine in that backup five role. It really just feels like he's not getting a rhythm and warmed up and as a shooter you need that. Making him run all over the place would probably be really good for him in those short minutes
@maymunistahli50221 күн бұрын
Hi Frank, a genuine question : what changed that Sengun can not make his great assists like before, it seems like he pushes the offence alone with his physicality and foot work. Back then when he pushes a little bit, there were many people cutting into the paint, but now they mostly wait for a free 3point at 3 point line, is this something ime planned ? Do you have some opinions on this ?
@DJ.Generation19 күн бұрын
Because we’re literally one of the worst shooting teams in the league. He only gets the assist if his teammates MAKE the shot
@Darkgnome21 күн бұрын
Tari and Amen help Sengun a lot in defence also. They won't let anyone pass them easily and block their shots at the rim. Seems like Sengun, Jalen, Amen, Tari, Reed will be the future line up with Jabari as the 6th men when length and shooting is needed. But Amen needs shooting, Jalen needs consistency and Sengun needs a backup center or Harry Potter wand.

If Jabari was involved on more of the screen actions and short rolled to a shot. And did some curls off some backscreens to get more 2 point jumpers. It would take some pressure off the other bigs. The lack of movement or structure on offense hurts him the most

Great analysis again, agree with a lot of the things you said. I am actually really impressed and happy how Ime changed this team's defense identity in 2 years. The way Sengun improved on defense is impressive. I think a lot of people take that as a given. I think time is the finite resource for coach and stamina is the finite resource for the players, you got to pick and choose your priorities. With that said, I feel like we are closer to the Larry Brown Detroit Pistons than any other championship team, which is not an exactly modern winning style but with some luck this is still a path. Therefore I would actually entertain the idea of trading for Damien Lillard (our Billups) if the bucks decides to blow up lol

We have two teams. Fast pace team and slow pace team. Fred on the court is the slow place team, this can only work well for Alpi; the rest of our team is fast pace stallions. Jabari has always played better with movement and does better in those lineups. Jabari is reduced to sitting in the corner and being the fourth option. How can he get in a rhythm? Jalen is also a rhythm player so let him be the lead ball handler. So I think we should switch Fred for Tari. PG-Jalen, SG-Tari, SF-Dillon, PF-Jabari, C-Alperen. 6th man - Amen. If you need more size - Steven, if you need to slow it down - Fred. If you need more shooting - Reed. The speed and defense need to be our top priority rather than 'turning it over less with Fred' - if youre 0/12 shooting those shots are turnovers. Plus with this line-up we will get way more offensive rebounds than with Fred on the court so fire away. Also Jabari's just looks worse because he is getting swapped for Tari who is literally top 5 in the NBA right now; THE PROBLEM IS FRED!

Obviously he not going to play huge minutes in the regular season or the post season. Landale he been hit or miss mostly miss.Your right the center depth is god awful if we can trade for a center I would do that in a heartbeat. Honestly would look at Marvin Bagley. He not getting any minutes with the Wizards and I think Ime can coach him up and bring out the best out of him. In a low risk high reward move. As for another guard, if we are talking about shooting guard…that’s a bit hard to choose if Cam wasn’t so awful he would be the perfect backup to take the load off of Jalen and sometimes Fred. If the rockets want to trade for somebody. I would be cool in getting Jordan Carkson and bring him off the bench. With that said great video Frank

The Rockets need to turn some of the assets they see as core pieces into superstar-level players. Ime isn't a development coach; he wants to win. How far can a team progress with the performance of just one player (Alperen Sengun)? The shooters are doing a truly terrible job. This is the biggest reason why the number of assists is so low. All they do is wait behind the 3-point line and wait for the pass from Sengun. Remove Sengun from this team, the worst team in the NBA by far would be the Houston Rocket. This can't continue like this.

Jock and Adams are sharing a small amount of minutes to get up to speed and every time I see Jock pick and roll the guards seem to want to do something else and not even passing when trapped. They don't create their own chances like Sengun except when posting up so the guards should probably involve them more.

Fans like you is a big issue. Sengun is already the best player in the team as well as one of the best center in the NBA. Unfortunately, no matter what he does, he never gets to be appreciated.
@djmill800021 күн бұрын
Also Frank, I think people, or most people our age and older, fail to understand why the NBA went away from dominant low post BIGS in the first place. 3s or more than 2s, and if your best player takes up more of a team possessions on 2 pt shots then you are in trouble in todays game. Let say Sengun aveages 30 pts a game and for the sake of argument lets say Harden average 30 pts a game.. even though they are both 30, they are not created the same. Sengun team will loose more times than not if he averages 30 vs a Harden team if he averages 30. Why? Guards and some wings can account for more PTS per possession. in lamens terms, Guards and some wings like a lebron archetype and even the new age centers like a Chet or Wemby can do this one thing, and thats create their own 3pt shot. So at any possession Harden can account for more pts because he can 1.assist for 2 or 3 pts, 2.draw foul or score 2 pts, or 3 create his own 3 pt shot. Where Sengun only can assist or score 2pt shot... Now you take that data and scale up 15-50 possesions each time a one of those players have the ball. In most cases Harden team wins. Sengun can shoot 60% from the 2, and take up most of the team possessions, and all Harden need or a player that can create his own 3 needs to shoot is 40% off less POSSESSIONS.
