@desrever11382 жыл бұрын
Great breakdown as usual Custa. The thing that drove me crazy watching this match (as an Outlaws fan) is that it always comes down to one or two mistakes that swing a match. Houston was one mistake away from winning 3-0, then one strategic mistake from winning 3-1, finally Glads had a few mistakes in rd 3 of map 5 that prevented the reverse sweep. OW is very similar to American Football in the sense that it really is a game of inches, and the micro decisions (or small mistakes), at the right moment, can make the difference between winning and losing.

I still think it's overused though. Houston has an 80% winrate on map 5 this season. And people point to Gibraltar final fight and Nepal round 2 but both of those were just insane clutch moments from Ans and Kevster, not Houston throwing

Mer1t has been severely underrated and missed all season. He was carrying Houston last stage and looks to do the same this stage. I hope people acknowledge him this meta!
@CrazeeAdam2 жыл бұрын
I mean he does clutch out in a lot of fights. But all of Houston in general play quite well the great majority of games. People clown on them because they lose to Gladiators consistently pretty much..you know, the team that won both past tournaments and was named the best team in league the past tournaments. But for the most part, they all play really well and will beat pretty much anyone who isn't named Shock or Gladiators pretty much. NYXL I don't even think they would've lost too at all if they had just played Danteh all match. I think Merit is the best rookie sniper this year, even better than his former teammate Kilo

God this match was insane, I'm entirely okay with one stage of this but any more than that will suck ass.
@masterfy242 жыл бұрын
As a Houston fan I really don't mind "Houstonable" and tbh as long as they continue to win like they did against the Gladiators, I'm fine with this "narrative" of going to map 5 all the time. (What can I say, the Outlaws are #1 at putting on a show.)

@afifkhan61512 жыл бұрын
basically both team were scared to go aggressive in a neutral fight because thats risky in comps like that so they sat in cover and tried to poke for ults/maybe a pick to go in off of, but since both team just sat in cover it took a long time to build ults and neither team could get a pick for those first three minutes.

Alomg the same lines as the 'Houstonable' rant, I've been a fuel fan since way back in Apex (when they were envyus) and throughout the OWL, I always found the fuel 'Cycle of Misery' fucking hilarious, as it was always a self fulfilling prophecy. Every season I'd see the team line up and go 'This is our year!' And every time I'd go, 'Ahh, cycle of misery' so when we won kick-off clash (or whatever it was called last year) I literally said "The cycle of misery is fucking broken!!". To cut a long story short, it was always funny that my team was being shit on by a funny meme, cause it was true, just like houstonable 😂

27:01 if I'm not mistaken this was the dash bug, wich will happen sometimes when you dash the ground or a wall. For some reason this causes Genji to be completly animation locked for the rest of his dash. So Kevster essentially wasn't able to turn around to slice up the enemies and got deleted.

When people talk about JQ they always refer back to the shout and how it should not give allies overhealth, or should give significantly less. But I think if JQ had no damage mitigation and was simply an engage-with-speed bot character that would be terrible. I like the decay nerf but i think it needs to decay much faster. That way its not a tool for sustain but a reactive mitigation ability.

Houston is my team and I think to defend them they’ve never been as good as they are now. Having said that haven’t they always kind of been this team? I know the term is new but Houston has always seemed to be this team that can have these brilliant moments that they somehow let slip through their fingers. I think the New York game and the glads game both looked like games Houston COULD have taken 3-0 but instead something happens to them on the back half of games and they always gotta bring it to game five. They make it competitive sure but like custa said players just seem to make mistakes that just shouldn’t be happening. It’s a Houston curse and this is a sport to cry cos your teams feeling might get hurt... don’t worry it’s a competitor sport I’m sure they’re used to this kind of talk. Houston has been and always will be my team that original roster is what made me fall in love with OWL but to act like Houston plays perfect or doesn’t seems to choke is a joke. I love them but god does watching them make my blood pressure spike. It’s always gonna be a game five lol that’s the Houston way.
@CrazeeAdam2 жыл бұрын
Honestly this year they've actually been far more clutch then they ever have IMO. Like they have won the great majority of map 5s they've played this year. I would not want to be in a map 5 with them. I think they've lost like 2? And won plenty more. Now they do go to map 5 a lot granted, but it's good to know they can win. All their players are pretty elite honestly, so this shouldn't be happening. But, to give them some credit, they are integrating 2 new players now, and it's a brand new meta. I think on a map like Gib, you have to just give credit to Glads. Houston didn't really make any mistakes that game, Ans and Kevster just were clutch as hell. Map 5, round 3, they did make some bad ult choices, but the fact is they have mechanical freaks on the team.

@@Anas0_ali hmm. yeah. But tbf, I don't think some off time this tournament would be bad for them either. They've constantly been competing and playing, making it to the end of both tournaments. They have enough points as is to near secure them an end of season spot in the playoffs. Some time off may do them some good. Not telling them to sandbag, and I wouldn't, but it still may be more of a gift than a disadvantage not making this tournament.
