When I was saved at the age of 20, I was taught a calvinistic interpretation of scripture, and even though I found it hard to swallow, I thought if it was true, then I needed to believe it. Now after 28 years and spending much of that time in calvinistic leaning churches, I have come to the conclusion that Calvinism is a false doctrine. By studying scripture, and mainly by examining the fruits of Calvinists I have come to that conclusion. Jesus said you will know them by their fruits. My oldest brother bought whole heartedly into calvinism, and it has led to severe bitterness and alcoholism in his life. Furthermore, having run my own business for 20 years, I have seen extreme greed in calvinists. In fact the two main fruits I have seen in calvinists are pride and greed. I believe if you are honest, you will see the same as I have. Calvinism does not hold up in a proper interpretation of scripture, and neither do the fruits of calvinist's line up with scripture. If fact look at the fruits of its founders, namely Augustine and Calvin. Both of their fruits were rotten.

Martin Luther was no Calvinist. For Luther, the gospel was always 'for you,' which Calvinists can never truly say.

Is it just me or do we need to pass the plate and take up a love offering for Paul so he can buy some socks! Yikes! Hey just kidding Paul. Loved this entire series. Calvinism is such a powerful lie and deception and I hate it. I have been researching to find the underlying causes i.e. spiritual principals which allow for such solid establishment and ubiquitous acceptance of such an obvious contrived falsehood. It is such a profound mystery to me as to why some can see and others are blind.

Yes, it's called "What's Wrong with Calvinism Part V." Use that title to search for it within youtube. (FYI, this series, Part IV and Part V, is in response to the 3-part series Dr. Walls did title "What's Wrong with Calvinism." Parts IV, V, and coming soon Part VI include the Scriptural backing from Paul Sloan with Dr. Walls.)

The ones who are blind are predestined to be blind. Wink, wink! ;)

Wow! This is such a mistake. Apparently John 5:39 is a lie. The Bible points to Jesus as the Redeemer of all Creation, not Israel. Talk about context. Isaiah 42:1-8 is about God's servant (JESUS) and chapter 49:1-6 is also about the LORD Jesus Christ. Yes, Israel was the chosen nation, but point of this passages is to Jesus. Notice that verse 6 says: "(...) and to restore the preserved ones of Israel(...)" BTW, I don't know why calvinists cling to Romans 9 as our best proof when we have Romans 8 John 6 Ephesians 1 Galatians 1:15-16, 2 Timothy 2:10 Romans 3 John 11 Ezekiel 36:22 Psalm 65:4 and it goes on and on ...

Rom 9:22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, Rom 9:23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory- Rom 9:24 EVEN US, WHOM HE HAS CALLED, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles? Clearly, the "vessels of mercy" are (according to verse 24) only those whom He "called" - aka, the elect.

Whom has he called? Not from the Jews only but ALSO from the Gentiles! God is enduring Israel as a vessel fit for destruction so that his name might be proclaimed to all the nations of the world not just the Jews. You miss the point of the whole passage, keep reading after verse 24, his quoting of the OT doesn't make the least bit of sense with your view of the text..

Your question was unimportant to answer within the confines of Scripture. The Torah (which includes most Biblical pre-flood narratives) was written for the nation of Israel. The purpose of the Torah was to establish the nation of Israel not to connect pre-flood persons with God so it is not necessary for all the details pre-flood soteriology to be present in the text. Post-flood Israel did not necessarily need the tools to figure that out so there is a good chance that they weren't included.

Would you really trust your "moral intuitions" over the text, and thus have to RE-interpret the text in order to cater to man's idea of what God should and shouldn't do? What demands that my intuition and God's infinite wisdom be consistent? Our wills and our reason are fallen. The Bible says, "he who trusts his own heart is a fool."

The Good Shepherd gives His life for the Sheep. Why is that so hard to understand? You know everyone are not His sheep.

Please friends! The Jews were not banished from the Roman Empire. The Jews were banished FROM THE CITY OF ROME. Please reread your sources. Judaea remained a part of the Roman Empire through the entire classical period. What happened was only as a result of Jewish subversive activities happening WITHIN metropolitan Rome, not the entire empire. Visit my Atavist Biblical Church site. God bless you.

Rom 8:30 And those whom He... PREDESTINED He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified. Clearly, the only ones whom He "called" unto salvation where those whom He "predestined". Calvinism is Scriptual Arminianism says that EVERYONE is "called" - but this verse says that only those "predestined" are called.

You're talking about total depravity, which is the area of agreement between Calvinists and their critics. Do try to keep up.
