Hov Areq is a famous traditional lyrical song from Armenia. It describes a man asking the nature to help him to console his grief. He turns to the mountains, fields, springs and pleads: "Hide the daylight under the dark soil from an evil man." The famous composer and ethnomusicologist Komitas Vardapet collected Armenian folk songs and published them.
In Armenia, the harp played a significant role in people's everyday life, for example at weddings, funerals, and it is an important symbol in Christianity.
