I've loved flying mine in MANUAL mode since late last year! Finally, a drone that can be flown by a stroke victim!!! 😀

Hi Craig, that's great to hear! Especially that the drone can be flown easily for those who have suffered a stroke. That's the great thing about the Hover, is that it is much easier to fly than a conventional drone without all the hassle. I'm pleased to hear that you are enjoying the drone - I love mine too! I have the 8Bitdo mini controller. I’m looking forward to trying it out with manual mode with the HoverAir X1. So far I have flown mine about seven or eight times and really love it. Those were all just test runs however. The real flying will start in a few days when I arrive with my wife in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Once there I plan on filming a variety of shots of us enjoying our vacation there. Once we get back I’m planning on putting all of the videos together into a larger video depicting our memories of the trip and the various islands we explore. Talk about a fun project for the Hover!

Hi Phil! Wow, that sounds sooo cool and exciting!. First what a wonderful location to go with your better half and I'm sure you are going to get some great footage - all those sunny days, and sandy white beaches. (Not jealous at all - looking out at gray skies and rain!) . Enjoy the Hover Air X1! What a fun project - so excited for you! Have you managed to figure out the mappings for the controller. I just managed in the weekend, but want to make them more DJI drone like. I'll probably do a video with the mappings at some point soon.

@@4T-Tech Thanks for your reply! I’m super excited. I haven’t yet dived into mappings…not sure when I’ll be able to do that (or how to do so). But truly I’m just happy to have the drone and could manage through the manual software controls if there is a particular shot that I really want which doesn’t involve us (and for many of those I can just use our action cam or iphone on a selfie stick). Yes we have grey rainy skies here in Southern California as well, which I’m looking at also. I’ve never been to BVI so it will be an amazing adventure. We will be four couples on a 42 foot Catamaran, going island hopping. And Island beach bar hopping. Pick your choice! I’ll choose both, thank you very much. :)

@@PhilTParkerHi! Count me in on both, I don't mind either! 🙂 We once tried to do something similar on a boat around the Greek islands, but Covid put a stop to that plan unfortunately. Your plans sound super fun, really pleased for you. Of course, don't try the Hover Air over water as it'll not like it and will go swimming. Look forward to seeing your footage when you get back, on your channel 🙂

@@4T-Tech I’m out here at BVI. Winds are pretty difficult. I didn’t lose my HoverAir X1 but…just make sure you keep her in winds that are “mello” if that makes sense.

JUST got my X1 ..... but after connecting and selecting Custom mode it only shows the Smart Preview button and NOT the Manual Control button ??

Nice post. My only issue is we’re expecting way too much for The Hover. For what I’ve found so far, the only issues are consistently making a wireless mike work when trying to fly with the app open… Perhaps I’m missing something, as many times I get a great video shot, but have no audio…Perhaps because it’s a Bluetooth mike? Will try a wired. Will keep trying. Thanks!

Hi - to be honest, I've only tried the in-app audio option a couple of times and it seemed to work okay, but maybe I got lucky. I assume the setting in the Hover app to record audio was on, as I missed it once and got no audio - and also I didn't realise the audio must be recorded with the app rather than another app in the background. I used the DJI Mic 2 with bluetooth, but haven't tried any others.

I purchased the mico, was able to change the settings for Mode 1. However, connecting to the Hover app isn't happening and on my screen I just see the page where the mico is connected. Any advice. Thanks.

Hi Joe - here are the steps with the Micro, hope these might help you: - Make sure the controller light is solid blue (not flashing) - bluetooth connection is ok to the phone - controller must be in Keyboard mode, slider on front is in K position

Hi - unfortunately not - it shouldn't be flown over water at all as it will confuse the sensor and will crash

@@carlgreene538 Hi Carl, so it's possible to control from a tablet - install the Hover app on your tablet and then run the app and connect to it in the same way as a smartphone. I have an IPAD and it worked on there.

Hi - as far as I know, the manual mode only works with WIFI enabled for the preview - I haven;t found a way yet of switching off the preview which might allow it to work without wifi

Hi - make sure you have the latest firmware and app versions and it should appear on the bottom right on the main opening screen once connected to the Hover?

The most annoying is that it only goes about 10m in manual mode. I wish it could go a little bit further.

Hi - thanks for the comment - yes it does have a short battery life and it's even worse in manual mode unfortunately. Definitely need at least two batteries!
