I'm glad this wasn't available to start. Hovering is probably one of the hardest tasks and I couldn't keep it within a football field let alone the BU symbology 😬, so I did practice loads and now I'm almost there. This will lead to skill fade if you rely on it too often. Great video as ever my friend👍🚁

Thank you for your great videos. I have a question. I used to use the. Thrustmaster, T 1600. And I use the. Ah. Left, right, paddles. For rudder control. Did that for years. I recently purchased. A warthog. And. Now I don't really have a good rudder option. I don't. And I haven't gotten used to using rudder pedals. And. I don't know what are my options. Are there any good options out there? Hate landing my F18. With the XY key on the keyboard for rudder and steering. I mostly fly the Apache now. Its a pain. Controlling the rudder. With the little knob. On the. Throttles. Am I destined to just buy a set of . Rudder pedals.
@schoolio64D2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think so. It’s *very* difficult to fly helicopters without pedals.

It would really help if the controls were said out loud as you were pressing them. That way we'd know what button you're using at that moment to make things happen.

I use this for station keeping when I am just sitting and launching Hellfires. It is one of those pilot workload helpers. But don't let it be your crutch. You should be able to hover with just your manual controls. My main Thrustmaster has no spring tension adjustment so I modified my backup and removed the spring altogether. The stick just flops around and you must have a hand on it all the time. I need something in between. I need the stiff stick for flying the jets, the less stiff for helicopters. I need and adjustable tension stick. Anyone have a good recommendation?
@schoolio64D Жыл бұрын
I have my stick mounted on a 200mm extension. The weight causes the spring to be much less effective, but it will still center when released. This works much better for me and is easier on the arm/wrist. I tried a setup that used hydraulic dampers that would hold it in position, but I really didn't like the way it felt, as the stick had way too much "throw". I haven't found another good solution yet, although I hear good things about force feedback sticks.

Unless the feature is part of the Hold mode itself, I guess would be nice to know, which of the 3 pedal trimming option (in Special tab) enables you to let go of the pedals after trimming?
@schoolio64D2 жыл бұрын
Heading hold submode is part of the hold system, but I’m not sure if it’s modeled. When I initially tried to take my feet off the pedals before trimming, it didn’t hold, but it isn’t supposed to hold if I remember correctly. Once you’ve trimmed, then it should hold. I use the central position trimmer, but I would think that the instant mode works the same. Once you are trimmed, as long as you don’t move the pedals, the SAS should have the authority to make the necessary adjustments.

What is the name of the control? Can’t find anything with “hold” or “attitude” as keyword.

I believe it is FT / AT (Force trim / attitude hold) out something along those lines.

I tried the Apache tonight, just got back from vacation. I have noticed a couple things. It feels like the trim system was not working before. It feels a lot easier to fly, I had to check to make sure it wasn't in easy flight mode. Feels like in between the KA50 and Gazelle now. I went into a hover and trimmed it, then I hit the attitude hold and everything stopped. I then checked to make sure I did not turn on active pause, because I was not moving at all. I've been using attitude hold for a few weeks for hover, but it would move around a little, around 0-3 knots. Does the newer FM, or trim system, feel more realistic to the Apache?
@schoolio64D2 жыл бұрын
I feel like it does. It seemed that previously it was very sensitive, almost too sensitive. It feels much better now.

I followed your turorial step by step but I always had one problem: The Attitude Hold would only engage rarily or not at all and i couldn´t activate it reliably. I don´t know if it is my fault or if my game is just bugged. (I think it´s my incompetent self). If someone has a solution for my problem please help me.

@@schoolio64D I struggled to hover, then found attitude hold a week ago and thought it worked amazing. Sounds like something is even better now but I thought it was pretty much doing this already 😀 Update: I think I was using trim then attitude and doing ok like that. I see this maybe doesn't need trim as much if at all.

@@stovic1442 were you able to hover hands off? That may be the key difference here - as long as you control your collective, you can hover hands (and feet) off the pedals and cyclic now. If you were, then I have no idea 😂
@stovic14422 жыл бұрын
@@tschooler I was going to go and test but ofcourse I can't I've updated. I think what happened was I was so rubbish at hovering, when I found att hold, I was more than happy it held me remotely stable so I could take hands off and do TSD things. I mustve been keeping an eye on it drifting and correcting when needed, but I was definitely hands off and just using collective up and down. Clearly this latest patch makes it better so its a true hover. I must not have been fussed about a bit of movement as it was still way better than me trying to do it before I found pre latest patch att hold. TLDR: Att hold was quite useful before this patch but now it seems its way better again and I haven't tried it enough to tell the difference.
