Join the Hovercraft History Hunters on their most eventful trip yet! See the various finds they make including a plaque with an amazing two-fold history. But disaster strikes when the hovercraft gets damaged beyond repair which could have caused serious damage to life. Still, we focus on the finds and getting a new hovercraft to continue our adventures!
This Marlin II Hovercraft has been an excellent craft for us and we have had lots of enjoyable and successful trip out in her. This accident was caused by a foreign object entering the fan blade area and causing a chain reaction in milliseconds. We loved and cared for this Hovercraft (Steve is a qualified mechanic), so we cannot question the quality of the craft or components of it. As you can see from the video we are going to buy another Marlin from The British Hovercraft Company asap, because they are a brilliant company who make outstanding Hovercrafts! I can't recommend them enough! britishhovercr...

Firstly, VERY glad that you two arrived alive. And glad a new ‘Rescue’ HC was purchased. If named the ‘PEGGY II’, she’d honor both the fisherman’s seafaring life and the history of Rock-n-Roll. (‘Peggy Sue’; Buddy Holly’s 1957 hit vinyl.) 😉

Great video Si, I'm so glad you were not injured. Looking forward to seeing the trips with the new hovercraft. At 2.50 you have a chimney pot, a nice example, Georgian in date. The sherd at 13.22 is Black Basalt, so 1780 - 1850.

My favorite find of this trip is the split nose of the flack shell. It was fired because lives were threatened and sent to remove that threat. We have the interviews of the pilots who won the battle of Britain but not much about the flack crews who also fought that battle for years. Unsung heroes as well. That's a museum piece. Thank You

@@Sifinds Not a Brit, just a yank who loves history, Not trying to dictate what you should do with your finds, I just thought the shell was unusual and would make a interesting display with a flack gun. Having fought, or acted in support of, the Battle of Jutland is a good enough honor!!!! The German fleet was scared to come out for a second try and stayed "bottled up" in the Baltic. I worked in shipbuilding , brass label plates are still everywhere on ships today!!! Even pipes are painted certain colors, and painted with code names. All doors, hatches, valves, machinery, et al....have label plates...awesome video!!! I'm assuming Shannon is the Irish river? I hate it for the hovercraft....

Oh, I am sorry about the craft, but so happy that neither of you were hurt. Scary stuff, those blades. Nice finds, especially the HMS Shannon plate. Kudos to British Hovercraft, a must have for rescues, especially in the muck, where a boat can't go and rescuers would get stuck on foot....not to mention, the speed at which the Hovercraft can do it. Happy to see the new one you chose. Will keep watching and see what the next adventure is! Cheers!

Not sure what an "HL Pump" was, but as a former Navy Electrician's Mate I can tell you that the "brushes" mentioned on the plate refers to carbon brushes used on a DC electric motor. They would eventually wear down and have to be replaced, which was why the ship carried spares. The pump and the motor that drove it were probably in the same casing as a unit.
