My first job as a kid was working with a co-op milkman so I recognized the milk bottle straight away. That was in the early eighties and from what I remember the bottles were embossed and quite decorative even then. Wish I had kept a few. There's something about their simplicity that makes them really appealing to me despite them not being that old. Thanks for these interesting uploads. Always fun to watch.

What a Fun video Si Finds! With that fisheye lens I thought you were the Little Prince, if you remember that book. I think you covered almost all the bases on this trip, well shy of gold coins or pieces of eight, a Tesla car, a politician,,,,,,well may be the skull and I'm waiting for the next trip. Always completes my Sunday Si Finds and Tideline Art. Now I can sleep and dream of Luck inna Muck, a leather Medieval bag filled with coins of the period, mostly gold of course and a complete Roman pot and all with you guys and the pot filled with gold and silver Roman coins. Of course I'd settle for a clay pipe but I ain't hard to please. So Many Thanks Simon O Finds and to your Friends as well. Hoover craft races, Love it! Love, Light, Peace and that pot of Roman coins! P&G stands for Portsmouth & Gosport - Mumbys bottling originated in Gosport, where I’ve lived all my life. I live 5 minutes from the now demolished bottling plant. Gosport is a peninsular town opposite Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Charles Mumby was a fascinating character and significant benefactor to this town.
@Sifinds4 жыл бұрын
Ah that’s really neat! Have you found any bottles yourself?
@cphughes1004 жыл бұрын
Si-finds Thames Mudlark yep, where I live was built on brickfields and domestic waste infill in 1939, so fragments of Mumby bottles can come up in the soil. Likewise, Portsmouth has a strong heritage with mudlarkers and sometimes a bottle will come up - there are many such example in local pubs too. Mumby was also one of the first to mass produce torpedo bottles. Here you go, I’ve seen both you and Nic pull Mumbys and Brockhurst bottles out on your vids historicgosport.uk/bottles/
