That's it! The bike I bought years ago at a yard sale for $40 that I brag about all the time has power-assist! When you start pedaling it propels itself it also generates a light on the bike as you peddle the light will be on. Now I don't know if it is a belt-driven or if it is a chain but as you described the e-bike that's exactly what my bike does without electricity it's manual. But I'll tell you it is the easiest thing in the world to ride even having severe asthma it was a breeze to peddle up a hill. I think it comes from Indonesia I know it's one of those foreign countries and they use bicycles all the time to get around and it was imported to America as they don't make these bikes in the United States. you helped me figure out how My bike works without knowing it 😂❤ thanks Bill. 🚲.

Very thorough and interesting review. I could not handle a 65 pound bike alone plus the cost would be out of my range but I can see where others would find this as a perfect way to get exercise as well as having fun. So happy you and Elizabeth can go biking together again!🚲♥

I had a mountain bike once with those fat tires and it was difficult for street/city riding to pedal. Another UTer had an electric bike (don't remember which brand) and he stated that when it rained, the screen wouldn't work. So not sure if that is a problem with all electric bikes or not. You'd think the control panel would be rain proof. Thanks for your review. I have checked online at electric bikes and boy, some are pretty expensive. I do love the idea of them and would like to have one some day.

Yes, those 4 inch wide tires add a lot of rolling resistance and can make it harder to pedal. That's where the electric pedal assist comes in. It's easy with pedal assist! And the screen on the dashboard of this bike is waterproof. They say that you can ride it in the rain, but do not recommend riding it in HEAVY rain. ALL e-bikes are more expensive. That's because just the battery itself can cost around $700-$800. But in reality, I have spent several thousand dollars on non-electric high performance mountain bikes! So I don't think the price of e-bikes is out of line.

Nice bike!. Locally, one takes a risk using their bikes to go shopping. So many E bike thefts here. The thieves are prepared with all kinds of cutters to break through the bike locks. There has also been stolen E bikes at knife point while the rider is on his bike. Seems as though nothing is safe nowadays.

I've have a worksmans e-trike. I cannot sit on a regular bike seat due to my tailbone but the workmans has a much different seat and even arm rests, lol. Great fun. BUT, difficult to transport since I don't have a trailer.

A thorough review for those interested in purchasing o this particular e bike. We used to ride mountain bikes n came across many a moose n Alaska. These days, we're sticking to long rides in the Indian. My husband has a bum knee and hip issues from his years in the military. I really like the one Elizabeth rides, but I'm vertically challenged. I don't think it would work for me. Happy trails! 🚲🚴‍♀️🚵‍♂️

The trike that Elizabeth has is a recumbent. That pushes the pedals forward into a "recliner" position. Because of that, you must be at least 5'6" to ride that trike. But Addmotor has many other trikes that are not recumbent, and fit riders down to 5'2".

I would change the bicycle seat to make it more comfortable and not so sure about the handle bars, but it does look like an awesome bike.

The seat and the handlebars can easily be switched out for something different. And Hovsco has many different models available on their website, with many different styles.

I live in North Dallas, and ebikes are stolen right and left. I was in Sam's Club one day, and two people were opening the e-bike boxes, assembling the bikes, and riding them out of the store without paying.

ALL e-bikes are heavy like that. The battery alone can weigh 20 pounds or more. And the fat tires weigh more as well.

Yes, just like a gas pedal in the car. Dial in the speed that you want.

Just use a standard bicycle lock, or a chain and padlock. Lock it to a bike rack, or a tree, or a fence. Something like that.

My only problem is the seats are not very comfortable for most seniors. A banana seat would be much more comfortable and a backrest is better beyond that. Nice bike.

Bicycle seats can very easily be switched out. Just find one you like it at bike shop and put it on, or have the bike mechanic at the shop put it on for you.

Good review but way out of my price. Funny do you want it to go as fast as your motorcycle? Isn't this supposed to be relaxing or are you always in a hurry? Need for speed?

I don't ride as a way to relax. I never have. Until I injured my knee, I was a performance long-distance bicyclist. I would ride 50-70 miles in one ride. My highest mileage in one day is 115. You can't do that in a relaxing way. I take riding seriously as a sport!
