How did you like our bZ4X drive? Do you think you'd be ready to own and drive an all-electric car? Jeff

We have had our bZ4X (Bab Z) for 5 weeks now. We love her. We upgraded from a 2022 Rav4 XLE Hybrid. We average 4.0-4.2 mi/kwh. Our bZ4X is a Limited AWD. 100% charge gives us 253 miles with "climate on" and 317 "climate off. We drive mostly city, with an occasional rural route to the lake. We have a level 2 charger and we can go from 20-100% in about 9 hours. 20-80% on DCFC in an hour.

In the Netherlands two major software updates for the BZ4X, range far better (450km real world range as tested) and far better charging as well. EV motor very efficient, on par with Tesla model Y. 10 years warranty as well, an industry first. It was a false start for the BZ4X but it has become a good BEV now.

If they give North America the same charging fix they did in the UK, these will become hot very quickly because that is the only thing holding it back. Almost everyone says it's one of the best ev cars out there other than charging.

@@Jil1A Toyota was very conservative when it was first released, and they built in a 30 mile "buffer" on the range. Essentially, when your meter says range is 0, you really have another 30 miles range. The software update adjusts that buffer down. The software also aggressively estimates your driving range to err on the side of caution, so your range estimates may look lower than they actually are. They also have taken steps to protect the batteries from overheating in order to extend their life past 100,000 miles, so charging is a bit slower than the 100kWh stated capacity. All in all, I love the car and I'm very glad that they designed the car to be durable and functional for years to come.

Thanks for the test drive. Are the front seats comfortable?? Heated seats and steering wheel is a must.

Jeff, How can you drive at Star Trek 'warp speed' in a car that genuinely looks like a Star Wars storm trooper? 🤔😂

How long does it take to charge it up to full capacity with the (provided) level one charger? Great video Jeff.

With a Level1 mine takes about 20 hours to get to 100%. Keep in mind all electric batteries charge slower when you get past 80% charge. So you can get to 80% overnight with a Level1 and it will take about the same amount of time to get the last 20%. With a Level 2 charger in my garage, I can get to 100% in about 9 hours. I primarily charge at home and so far haven't had an issue at all.

Jeff, do you have any updates on your 2021 Venza Limited?? Anything needs to be fixed? Are all the features working well? Thanks, Dan M.

For me to buy an electric Toyota vehicle it has to have a five hundred mile range on one charge. I drive from Washington, DC to New Jersey near New Youk 3-4 times a year.

Im a toyota lover but with this its a no brainer that one should choose a tesla over this one. Price is just too expensive for its low range

I’m a big Toyota fan but this is without question the worst EV in North America. There’s zero reason to get this over the segment leader, the Model Y. Hopefully Toyota will have a better showing when it debuts its dedicated EV platform in 2026.

No reason... better ground-clearance... better AWD... better build quality.

@@john1701a Better build quality? The wheels were literally falling off this thing when it debuted. Pathetic range plus no frunk and not even a glove box. No one pedal driving either. It’s just as expensive as much better products.
@john1701a
@john1701a Жыл бұрын
@@smrtguy77777 Replacing hub-bolts has nothing to do with build quality. Of course, calling that range pathetic requires turning a blind-eye to actual need. Notice how many other EVs offer the same or less? As for no glovebox, dismissing the value of a radiant heater reveals a lack of efficiency understanding.

@@john1701a I’m also a Toyota fanboy, but I’m not blind. Even Toyota admits that it fell short, that’s why they’re scrapping E-TNGA and working on a platform similar to what Tesla has. Toyota’s own engineers called the Model Y a “work of art”. They underestimated EV demand now they’re playing catch up. The Model Y is expected to outsell the Rav4 this year which is pretty insane. Check out CarCareNut’s breakdown of the Bz4x, it’s pretty revealing.

Consumer reports would disagree with you and ranked the Bz4x and Solterra higher than the Tesla Model Y, which scored very low on reliability. I have several colleagues who have owned Teslas, and they liked them for the first year or so but quickly sold them because of quality issues.

I like it a lot better than the other "slap an iPad on the dashboard" designs that other manufacturers use. Toyota essentially used the exterior of a Rav4 and the interior of a Prius (two of their best selling platforms) to make this. I looked at every EV in the market in this price range, and thought this was the best all around choice. (I bought the Subaru variant). The Hyundai and Kias had dealer markups of 10% or more, the VW id4 had lousy software, service support for Tesla and Polestar is horrible, GM is discontinuing the Bolt, didn't like the Ford MachE, had bad experience with Nissan before so I won't do that again. So far we love the car. It's solid, fun to drive, quiet, comfortable, and range/charging speed hasn't been an issue for us.
