How do you like Toyota Crown looks, features, technology, and drive so far? Thanks for watching AND Subscribing! You're the best! Jeff

Jeff, In future you should let your better half do the mpg test drives. You seem incapable of driving at an economical speed. 😉

Thanks for the review Jeff. I really like the car. Like the looks of it. Very muscular. I particularly appreciate the additional headroom in the XLE because it doesn’t have a sunroof. I also like the higher seating position in terms of getting in and out of the car. As we age getting in and out of the car easily is important. I’m impressed that a car of that size can get 41 mpg. Would love to see it in a hatchback too. Well done Toyota, well done Jeff.

I doubt they’ll give this one a hatch bc there’s a SUV version of this already going to Japan (and maybe here too) but I agree, it would be perfect if it was a hatch!

I really like the layout of the interior. It looks very functional. I wish it was a tad cheaper and I could actually find one to test drive... but hey, welcome to car buying 2020-2023.

Got the Crown 3 weeks ago. A lot to like. You can nitpick here and there as well as the price, but is a lot of car and a lot of options. Has everything and more of what a Camry and Avalon had.

Fantastic car Jeff. Loved it. I would go Limited trim for the Crown. I think that will be the sweet spot.
@AutoJeffReviews Жыл бұрын
Lol correct answer. Limited is the way to go :)

Thanks Jeff. Nice video. Just a couple of my personal observations... I went to my Toyota dealership to drive a Limited and a Platinum. I prefer to not buy a base model of a car just so I can get into the model, so I wasn't going to look at an XLE. That's just me. First I drove the Limited and hated it. I thought the engine was noisy under acceleration and I didn't care for the drivetrain. I don't know if it was the CVT or the non-turbo engine complaining about my request for power or the hybrid's setup which has a heavy bias toward front-wheel drive. All I know is for fifty grand, it didn't feel like a Lexus or Audi or Genesis competitor. I was with a friend who has owned many different luxury brands including Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, and even an Avalon. For the money, we weren't impressed and almost left after the first test drive, but they had the Platinum ready to go, so we took it out. We felt the difference immediately. It was smoother and more quiet under acceleration. I'm not sure if it was the turbocharged engine, the six-speed transmission, the larger rear-drive electric motor, or the hybrid's motor's 30% rear-wheel bias. It just felt totally different. As I pressed the accelerator harder, it seemed to say, "OK buddy, let's go!" in contrast to the Limited that said, "I hope you don't plan to make a habit of this." For me, they are two totally different cars, and for $5k more, the Platinum would be my choice. I'm also old enough to appreciate the fact that 30 mpg is freaking great for a car with 340 hp! Don't get me wrong. Getting 40 mpg would be great if there weren't any trade-offs, but if I were in a place where not achieving 40 mpg was a deal breaker, I probably wouldn't be looking at cars in this price range. As for the attractiveness of the car, I'm not going to be so naive as to flatly state it's either beautiful or ugly and declare anyone who disagrees with me to be wrong. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I like the look. I'm older, but I'm not Stegasaurus old. If I were, then maybe I wouldn't be able to look beyond the traditional Avalon or Taurus sedan body type. The sad truth is that so many consumers left the sedan market in favor of modern SUV's luxury and utility. Toyota knows that. They also know that many people who prefer sedans are older and have to work harder to get out of them. To keep them in the market, Toyota raised the seat height just enough to provide easy egress for those of us aged 55 or better. They also took a chance on the styling and designed a car to look more interesting than the box it was shipped in. With that, they're probably trying to attract younger buyers who don't want to be caught in an SUV. And let's face it, the SUV is today's version of what the minivan was 30 years ago or the station wagon was 50 years ago. Will it work? Who knows? All I know is that I wouldn't say the Toyota Crown is ugly just as I wouldn't say someone's wife is ugly - unless she's a Pontiac Aztec. I think we can all agree on that.

Jeff, I thought I’d be happy with the limited. I have a 2019 Avalon that I still love. I went to a dealership to drive one. I thought it drove and handled well. It was the engine noise on acceleration that completely disappointed me. It reminded me of the Camry. My Avalon’s engine noise is pretty quiet. Maybe the 4 cylinder verses the 6? Hoping the platinum grade doesn’t disappoint when and if one ever comes to my area. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Jeff for the driving impressions. I think I would choose Limited for the softer seats. I don't like cloth seats: show a lot of dirt.

How does SET get away with charging $699 for little more than two oil changes, $449 for the floor mats that Toyota sells for $309, and $73 for a set of cables of which, at most, you need only one that would cost $5 at a local store? How can that be? By putting this stuff on the Monroney label, they make it non-negotiable, so they're no really "options" but rather a huge rip-off in a captive market. It's infuriating that they can get away with this.

I would buy it if it had a moon roof option. So that's that. I bought a Camry Hybrid with a moon roof that I'll receive in about a week or less. 50 mpg is good enough.

Warning to tall or large drivers. This is a very small car inside. Smaller than the current Camry. If you are on the wider side and taller than 6’ it’s not for you. I sat in one today and the ride height was perfect, but it felt extremely cramped.
