Another fun fact for SMB2, Doki Doki Panic actually started out as a demo for a Mario game but was eventually changed to become Doki Doki Panic, so in my opinion it was always a sequel to Mario

Doki Doki Panic, started development as a proposed sequel to Super Mario Bros. The game getting reskinned to have Mario characters is just the game coming back full circle. It was, is and will always be, a real Mario game.

Your Super Mario Land review is completely unhinged. You clearly didn't even play the game. All of characters and settings on the box art ARE in the game and YES, there IS a run button.

Now yes I did play the game, how else would I’ve not been able to talk about it? I never specifically stated that those characters and settings weren’t on the box, I was just saying that compared to what we see of them in the actual context of the game it felt a little disappointing. The run button part is totally on me, the version I used to play this game didn’t allow me to run in anyway so I assumed there wasn’t a run button to be found, but I should’ve researched that before making that claim. At the end of my video I stated that no 2D Mario game was bad but it’s clear which games are better/worse than others. And Super mario land happened to be my least favourite

In SMW, you can get to the star road early to skip entire worlds. The colored yoshis also have different abilities when they have a shell in their mouths, correlating to how turtle shells of the color affect a normal yoshi

The serpent dragon thing in Mario Wonder actually appeared first in Yoshi Story before Galaxy. I feel as if it might have been some where else before that too, but I'm drawing a blank.

Also, I don't hear people talk about Yoshi Story much at all in general. It's not a bad game, but also I would not a masterpiece or a list topper, it just kind of exists really.

F Mario, Yoshi’s Island 1& 2 is where is at, SMB3 and SMW have nothing on it. Not to mention the better music and better bosses, and better story. I actually like this channel, it has decent humor, and is cool seeing the young discovering and appreciating old games.

I actually did play the whole game lol, how else would I been able to talk about it. Now I did make a mistake there since I originally assumed that the hammer suit was only available in the all stars version of the game since I never came across the hammer suit during my play through. And if I did I would’ve definitely talked about it. So my bad there So yeah saying that Mario 3 only had “1 power up” may have been a weird take but I did talk extensively about the frog suit (and why didn’t like it) and the raccoon and tanooki are almost the same thing so I just grouped them together

@@theglasshalffull6958 started off the video saying that super mario bros was the first videogame ever, so i already assumed you'd be making false facts as a joke throughout the rest of the video. Later you said the mushroom powerup only gave you an extra hit, but as small mario you can't break through brick blocks and for some levels that's a game changer. It's not a big deal but since you're asking for examples you also refer to the leaf powerup as the tanooki, but the leaf is the raccoon suit and the tanooki is the more rare suit that allows you to turn into a statue The video is entertaining as a personal review of the games, as long as people don't view it as an accurate history report on the series

Those are some very good examples you pointed out. And for the most part, it's true for all of them. I figured that just saying that the first super mario bros game was Nintendo's first game is easier than Nintendo made a couple of games before that since it wouldn't really be relevant to the video. Regarding the Mario 3 power-ups, yeah I did get a bit lazy and refer to both the tanooki and leaf as the same thing when there are distinct differences. Again that might be a bit lazy on my part but I didn't want to go out of my way to describe the differences. And as for the mushroom power-up and how it can destroy blocks, that's actually a very valid point that should be worth mentioning when I was talking about it in my Mario LL section... but I genuinely forgot about that when I was making the video. So good catch. In the end, this video is definitely a much more personal review of the series like you said. Since even I know there's a ton of stuff that I missed out on that I didn't mention (like the challenges in mario u) because then the video would've been way longer. And let's be honest the video was already long enough.

If you think the Music Levels in Wonder are the best thing ever, you need to play Rayman Legends. It has music levels that frankly make the marching piranha plants level/s, feel half assed when compared. Rayman did it first and better, I did enjoy the Bowser fight though.

Funnily enough I do have some memories of playing some of those music levels in the Rayman demo at the mall and really enjoying it. I’ve been meaning to play rayman legends for a while since I’ve heard such good things about it

I assume you know better, but Super Mario Bros, wasn't exactly the first platform game ever, nor even the first Mario game, you said it a few times that was eyebrow raising. It did revolutionize the genre though and kind make into a new genre, other platform games tended to be single screen, so it did come out swinging with the screen scrolling that wasn't really a common thing before.

I originally put it in the script and while I was editing the video I realized how blatantly wrong that line was but still kept it in since I didn't think many people would care. But I've gotten some comments telling me the same thing so it turns out that I should often correct myself because I don't wanna put misinformation like that in my videos from now on (unless I'm trying to make a joke about something idk)

Toad in Mario 2, was the fast character, not dog shit as you put it. You just don't know the game well enough. If he's holding an enemy he runs significantly faster than any of the other characters, he also has a faster grab and throw speed. Which makes him the go to for a speed run, with the exception of a few levels where a better jump can let you skip sections, he is the best character to use. All the characters had different movement speeds, and even grab and throw speeds. Toad can more aggressively pick up items to throw at a boss and do it faster than the boss can shoot another projectile where as some one like Luigi is going to struggle to take advantage of that same time window.

I know that Toad has his own advantages that made him stand out and more usable than other characters in certain moments but I only used the term "dogshit" because I didn't enjoy playing as him as much as the others and had a much harder time using him to get past obstacles. Also it was supposed to be a little joke because I thought it was funny so don't take everything I say to be literal

@@theglasshalffull6958 Nah, I ain't mad or nothing, just felt like you didn't really get the game's quirks. But maybe I have a bit of bias towards him as my favorite. Honestly all of the characters, Mario is the most useless, in this game with his name in the title. He doesn't have anything special or is uniquely good at. He's so average, there's no reason to pick playing him. At most some speed runs use him for a single level because his jump height lines up better for one section.

Yea that’s fair to say, I never really looked into the speed running side of this game since I played it pretty casually. But I can imagine Toad’s speed could come in pretty handy for certain aspects of the game
