Legends Arceus was such a fun game, I was really looking forward to Scarlet/Violet but it just fell so flat
@Zivalene3 күн бұрын
Despite how Scarlet and Violet released, (yes, I had my own glitchy experiences to talk about), it was the first game that me and my now-husband played together and shared in full. I loved the story, the personality that they gave Miraidon and Koraidon, and 'Celestial' is now considered 'our song'. There are still many moments I can recall that made that game worth it for me in the end. But to this day, I have yet to finish Let's Go: Pikachu and BD. Didn't even catch the legendaries in SWSH because I didn't want to bother going for them after the credits.

my favorite series of games without a doubt. owned all the games from firered and leaf green all the way to black. picked up all the 3ds games and a 3ds just to play them and can’t convince myself to buy a switch to play the new games. they look so atrocious, soulless, and pathetically lazy in comparison to the ds games. it’s a shame what it has become. in my eyes the last playable games were from the 3ds and possibly sword and shield. what a fall
@travissteffel74313 күн бұрын
I feel like the fall of the franchise is soley the fans fault. Alot of decisions made, actively made the game worse because fans wanted it. We got rid of HMs because their annoying and the puzzels and complex maps left with them. The games were made to easy, trainers taken out to speed up the game, XP shares made for entire teams make game go even faster so people can rush off to competive. Lastly the influx of legendaries is ridiculous, playing omega ruby/saphire getting latios/latias at sexond gym was ridiculous.

I really like the Lets Go art style, and I wish they pushed it further with day/night cycles and seasons. The games could have been the best modern pokemon games if they didn't remove so many mechanics and included the later gen evolutions of gen 1 pokemon

Not meaning to be a downer, but... I don't see it. I don't see how exactly I am supposed to expect change for the better, there is no evidence to support this. The trajectory is very clear, and they're raking the money in like crazy. I'd love for me to be wrong, but I just don't see it. Oh, and do play Persona 5. That's what a turn-based RPG can actually be like.

I mean... sorry, but what you call "not handholdy" about S/V is just awful open world design, where everything is leveled like in a linear structure and the game just doesn't tell you where to go first, content to let you trial and error it out. That's not open world design, it's amateurish, and even freaking GameBoy Color ROM hacks do this correctly. (Yes, I mean Crystal Clear.)

Legends: Arceus was, ultimately... simply a good game. It had flaws, it wasn't perfect - but it was just a good game. It functioned, it offered me frequent, meaningful and enjoyable minute to minute gameplay choices, it respected my intelligence, it valued my time, it was simply _enjoyable._ No dumb strings attached. And that's way more than almost any mainline Pokémon game has ever given me.
@AniGaAG5 күн бұрын
One addendum: Let's _not_ pretend things were entirely rosy on 3DS. Really, the very origin of what would turn into the current state of Pokémon and the fanbase was the whole cash grab barebones "double release" situation with US/UM.
@BuddyFox6 күн бұрын
Not even just Pokemon but the Switch era in general has taught me Nintendo has no idea wtf they're doing. Enhanced graphics and mechanics not enough? Add a gimmick. Given the console power to make a more expansive experience? Release trash and never update it. Just my own gripes coming through but ACNH ended up the single greatest disappointment of my time gaming on Switch after that one week of wonder wore off.
@theglasshalffull69583 күн бұрын
I’ve personally felt very satisfied with almost all my purchases with the Switch. I can admit that it’s not all perfect and I’ve heard that the Mario sports games or new horizons were lacking but other games I’ve played like Metroid dread, Pikmin 4 and the obligatory BOTW and odyssey are amazing
@Diwasho6 күн бұрын
6:25 Nintendo fans have no qualms about paying the same price for cheap and lazy side scrollers like Kirby Star Allies and NSMB as they do for elaborate 3D AAA titles like BoTW and Odyssey, why would they complain about Pokémon LeGo being priced the same as the main Pokémon games on Switch? People have no standards. 9:15 Not even that, Gen 5 already had a green monkey. 55:10 Because the games are now irrelevant beyond serving as a basic platform for introducing new monsters, with this franchise the real money is made elsewhere. Yes, it sucks, but it's been the state of the franchise for so long it's time to accept that Pokémon games will never be good again. 1:03:00 Since BW? All BW really had is the darker tone compared to the later games but the story themes themselves are relatively mild and come off as pseudo-intellectual compared to the really dark stuff in some of the later games, like the mass genocide of both people and Pokémon, the curse of immortality, animal abuse and even more messed up family relationships than those between Ghetsis and N. 1:16:25 Sadly you can, and they've been doing just that. The designs of Pokémon creatures can be enjoyed in complete isolation from the game series they originate from, the games may help provide some context and story for them but for most customers of the Pokémon merchandise this is largely unnecessary. Not too long ago Hello Kitty used to be the second biggest brand right after Pokémon and you know it's not because of the quality of its anime.

I'd say pokemon peaked as a game in gen 5, and conceptually in gen 6 with mega evolutions For all people meme about them being ultra painful transformations for the pokemon and what have you, but I can't think of a single thing more pokemon than the literal power of friendship pushing your partners and friends beyond their normal limits The "battle frontier" in ORAS though... that was an omen for things to come, even if we thought it might mean it'd come in a future update or something Everything after has just been one long, slow slide into ever deepening disappointment and mediocrity

@theglasshalffull6958 People were really critical of XY when it came out, saying it was too easy, complained about the flying models, Pokémon models being worse than their 2d counterpart, complained A LOT about the EXP All and overall referring to it as nu-Pokémon. On its' release XY wasn't quite as hated as SwSh or SV but it had a fair share of (and not always true) criticism targeted towards it. It's still known in the community as the beginning of the downfall for Pokémon.

The answer is more than holiday release. Look to the tcg and merch. The card game has a semi regular release schedule. As new expansions come out, old ones get retired. As for the merchandise, merch is THE biggest chunk of their sales. It's not even a comparison. Merch sales dwarf all other profits the company sees. In other words, the vg needing more time to cook doesn't stand a chance of getting in the way of holiday sales season. That's why we don't get more mature content. Your interests interfere with profiting from little kids wanting this year's pikachu backpack, bedroom set, shoes, watch, pencil box, etc.

These companies know their product is highly desirable no matter its state, and the more money people will throw for a poor product, the more money they can make upon release of properly made product. They understand they could provide everything their demographic wants and more, but that all starts with people buying lame product.

I love gen 4, it's my all-time favourite generation (shortly followed by 5th) Which makes the remakes even more disappointing I don't have a problem with the art style by itself, it's very cute, but it's just not suited for gen 4's story The reason why I believe this is that the art style tells a story too and a light art style like this can't tell a heavy and (in my opinion) deep story. Not to say that gen 4 is particularily deep or dark, but I certainly view is as less light than for example gen 3 or 6 But I can't take the gen 4 story seriously when I see mad chibi Cyrus

Try Honkai Star Rail It will ruin your perception of Gamefreak as developers. Hoyo devs add in stuff every 6 weeks and create the equivalent of a whole game after a year. There's no excuses left for AAA companies when a mobile game company is cooking them.
