I was in the Income tax Department at Ahmedabad. Once we were called for action at office quite early in the morning. The organising officers, packed us all in waiting vehicles driven outside city limits on to a desolate road where we stopped and waited. There we were served packed breakfast and then teams made and asked to get into team vehicles and head of team was given a sealed cover to open after another ten minutes after vehicles started. Top of cover said go to area so and so in city. Finally we landed inside a shop inside old walled city area by 11.00 am Later we were given to understand that there are informers for traders waiting outside our office gates and inform their leaders where these IT raid groups are heading to and what time

I belong to Jalna City, it is said that IT dept. Found 300 CR cash in one of the steel company office, can you imagine amount of cash they found in 9-10 industries. After this incident the steel industry was almost closed for 1-1.5 months, the company's couldn't even afford to pay scrap supplier. This shows amount of cash fund IT dept. repossesed from them.

Income Tax and Corporate Taxes are levied in Certain Countries. In India , People do not want to Pay Taxes because they do not see any output. Whenever you visit a government offices , process are pretty slow and small corruptions are there. Instead of doing raids , government should work at root level. Reduce taxes and create an environment where MSMEs can flourish ! Also Raid Politiciane who uses large amount of money during election campaigns !

Not taking away anything from the IT department - India has an excellent tax collection/recovery system but inefficient system to actually track where the money is actually being used.

IT departments job is to collect evaded tax. To penalise someone on where the money is used will majorly come under the scope of prevention of money laundering act, bebaki transactions act, narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances act, IPC etc. They also initiate their respective procedures once they get information. Information is duly shared amongst these acts whenever required.

Unpopular opinion: What happens if the information is fake. Will the damage caused during the raid be reimbursed by IT department.
