People will hate me for saying this, but players like Ronaldo or Ronaldinho would be called one season wonders nowadays. Ronaldo and Messi have completely destroyed our perspective on players. Those two are so far above every other player that ever existed, but we still tend to compare todays player to them.

Ronaldo Nazario was such a gifted player that even after having 2 bad injuries prior to 2002 FIFA World Cup and gaining weight afterwards, he still outscored many world-class strikers back in the day. Imagine what he could have been had he stayed fit throughout his career.
