It's amazing the effort, expense and equipment that went into making a watch which is almost as accurate as a solar powered, waterproof Casio for $100. (it receives signals from atomic clocks) Clocks and watches were invented to tell the time; today it costs $16 to have an accurate timepiece.

Whatever they say, a watch like this is a jewel first and a time piece second. It is more or less the men's version of a diamond necklace. The sheer beauty and craftsmanship going into a piece like this is without equal. And it might even be the most accurate time keeper, apart from atomic clock solutions. But if keeping time was so important, they could also buy a Casio. The owners could care less about time, they care about excellence.

The lesson of the video is, 1) Craft out something fine (is ok to be unnecessary, the most important thing is show the passionate and handcrafted) 2) Marketing, telling how expensive the product could be. Make it famous. If possible, telling how long the brand established, even the figure is nothing much related to the quality. People will just perceive that must be good anyhow. 3) Those social racer (who trying to tell people they just can afford expensive things) will just buy it. Win win strategy. You get the money, they get the fame.

My Patek is close to it's 70th birthday. It keeps better time than my; Rolex, Vacheron ,Baume Capeland Chrono, Cartier Pascha Chronograph, AND, just about ALL the wrist watches in my collection. The only timepiece that I own matches the accuracy of my Patek is even OLDER . It is a pocket watch w/39 jewels as a high grade railroad watch. It is a pain to keep winding that watch due to the fact the fact you need you need to open the back of the case to wind it. The design of the plates are consistent with a Waltham in the US . The marking on the plate is: PT0004. I've not be able to trace that.

You can't question the potential of ownership of a Patek. I've made a bit of money purchasing their smaller ladies movements that were made in the 1920's & 1930's. I've found that some of these older watches need no more than a cleaning.

Forget the $500,000 dollar Patek Philippe that will have to be completely disassembled every five years for service at a cost of $5000 dollars to keep it functioning. My Grand Seiko Spring Dive cost $5,800 dollars and never needs to serviced ever and only gains one second per day, when the Patek loses are gains three seconds per day. Now what really the best timepiece in the world Grand Seiko!

I wonder if those round hole marks or swirls are going to make a wave of air pockets to destabilize the movements inside the watch i know they are sealed units, but still anything which has like a golf ball holes in the coated metal ,will make any movements near it change due to the difference in the wavelength of the sound created as part of the moving part on top of those golf ball like swirl holes? Just saying thats all i am sure the engineers would have looked at that and what it might do to any of the movement of parts near those swirl golf ball holes etc. 🦘🦘👌👌✌✌👍👍

Another idiot that thinks everyone in the world makes only $40k/yr like you. Did you loose any sleep over that $20 watch you’re wearing when you bought. I doubt it. The people that buy these watches don’t either. Some day you’ll grow up and realize a lot of people on the plant make a lot of money... more then you’ll ever comprehend.....
