I like that this guy actually respects his animals that he hauls. I know a lot of sadistic people in the livestock hauling industry.

Liked and Subscribed. Out here in Saskatchewan it’s mostly cattle hauling from farm to feed lot.

This was very informative and had stuff I never even thought about for livestock hauling. Just wondering why the shavings don’t still blow around (or out) while driving empty with all the venting on the sides of the trailer? Thanks and stay safe.

Great video SP! Super informative, my brother hauls pig/chicken feed. A farm he delivers feed to got decimated by a respiratory illness that wiped out the entire barn. They never recovered. Bio security is no joke in this business! Good luck out there brother!
@CanadianSouthpaw023 жыл бұрын
oh man that's not good that they never recovered from that, its risky when things aren't done right and that happens to an entire barn. it def is very crucial that everything stays clean. I really appreciate you watching buddy!

Hey Southpaw, do think 50c a mile is a good starting wage for haulin cattle?
@CanadianSouthpaw022 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, are you from Canada? If your from Canada Absolutely not! And I don't believe that's even good for the US. Believe me it's a lot of work for 50c a mile, your boss would be getting rich off of you at that rate. You want to be looking for a lot more than that.

Thanks for sharing brother definitely a lot more than people think that goes into hauling livestock. Well call the doghouse the jail

you got that right man, a lot of people don't realise what goes it's this job, it's not just jumping in the seat and running like a bad ass outlaw. the doghouse/jail has a lot of different names lol thanks for watching buddy!

@@CanadianSouthpaw02 do farms pay a fuel surcharge?
@CanadianSouthpaw02 Жыл бұрын
@@marvd1887 not really we do well enough that there’s no surcharge needed. Thats my opinion we typically make well above what van flatbed etc make this industry is different then most. Most people seem to think it’s easy until they try it and they don’t last longer than a couple months or there first winter. it’s the hard truth it’s not for everyone.

@@CanadianSouthpaw02 what do you recommend for HP requirements for hauling pigs?
@johnchambers1380 Жыл бұрын
I was in the shaving, bedding business. Doesn't seem like a lot of shavings. Does that just meet some bureaucratic minimum requirement?
@CanadianSouthpaw02 Жыл бұрын
Yes that does meet the requirements. So when we haul the pigs we have to be mindful of the time of year it is. Winter there is a lot more that gets laid but in the summer because pigs are actually a naturally hot animal we don't lay as much as it acts as a blanket and will over heat them and can cause a lot of issues during transport. my job is to keep them cool and safe when they are in my trailer.
@johnchambers1380 Жыл бұрын
@CanadianSouthpaw02 thanks for the info. I haul the finished product and was just wondering. Hell of a lot more going on with hauling livestock than me hauling hot dogs.

How do you deal with V***n cockroaches l know lots of bullhaulers facing problems and they harassing and attacking the bullhaulers
@CanadianSouthpaw023 жыл бұрын
alot of what i do is just farm to farm stuff but anytime that i have been to the slaughter houses i have been lucky so far i am sure the day will come when i have to face it.
@leelahd44283 жыл бұрын
I hauled pigs for a week. Not my cup of tea. I couldn’t understand the reasoning for being sanitized for the slaughter pigs.
@CanadianSouthpaw023 жыл бұрын
right on i find pigs are one of the easier things to haul other than having to learn how to read them. as far as the sanitized/disinfecting the trailers, basically it boils down to having no cross contamination between the farms along with making sure no diseases get to the slaughter houses you don't want the animals sick and having us consumers sick as well.
@leelahd44283 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianSouthpaw02 I understand the farm to farm sanitizing. I hauled 3 loads to slaughter. I wouldn’t think they would get sick in a 3 hour trip and killed a few hours later. But I’m sure smarter people than me know better😂
