Did you know that a boring, average person with no interesting hobbies or skills can make a crazy amount of money on KZbin? I know because I’m that guy and in this video I’m going to show you what my strategy to do this was, how long it took, and how much I’ve made. So hopefully you will be inspired to do the same!
So how does a boring, average person make videos that people will actually want to watch and make money from them. I did this by doing what I called monetizing my life. I recorded myself doing very mundane things and documenting how it went.
My first videos included things like:
Growing a beard for the first time
How I dealt with these annoying neighbors I had at the time
What happened when I drank apple cider vinegar for a week
Eating a dozen eggs
And What would happen if I did one hundred pushups everyday
They were just odd topics you may think would be boring, but may spark interest in other people if they heard about it. And doing these things from the perspective of an average person makes them all the more interesting to the average person watching the videos.
So for the first two years, my channel didn’t do super well. I had the ideas to make the 100 pushups a day video for 30 days and I put a lot of time into, and I was sure it would take off.
I posted on March 12, 2017, that day it got 32 views. And for the next 25 months it would typically only get between 2 - 60 views a day. It didn’t do nearly was well as I was hoping it would. Here and there it would get a spike in views for a day or so of a couple hundred then would drop back down to hardly any.
Then suddenly, without any warning this video exploded! And my channel began to take off!
In the first 25 months since it was published, it had only gotten 36k views in total, but flash forward 1 year later and it had skyrocketed up 7.2 million views!
It went from generating only $57 dollars in ad revenue in the first 25 months to over $22K in ad revenue to date.
It also helped my channel gain 10’s of thousands of subscribers.
Here is the crazy thing about this video, it did so poorly for so long, I almost deleted it right before it took off!
The average view duration of this video was only 2 minutes 44 seconds, so on average people only viewed only 42.2% of the entire video, which is decent I suppose.
I didn’t think my channel was doing very well and I was thinking about taking my channel in a whole other direction, focusing on one niche instead of a bunch of random videos and I thought having this video on the channel would do it more harm than good, but thankfully I didn’t disable the video when I initially thought to and just kept doing what I was doing.
After this video took off, several other of my videos started to take off as well and my channel went from under 100,000 views to now over 38 million views.
I’ve only put out a little over 100 videos in total thus far and of those videos I have had 6 videos get over 1 million views each, with my top two videos both getting over 8 million a piece.
And I have had 26 of those 100 videos get over 100,000 views each, with several of those approaching a million views.
In order to reach 100,000 subscribers and to get my silver play button, it took about 5 and a half years from the time I released my first video. For the first several years, the idea of reaching 100,000 subscribers seemed impossible.
Most people are shocked when I tell them I only used my cell phone camera and free software on my 13 year old laptop to film and edit all my videos, so really there was no cost to get started for me. Over time I’ve purchased a few other items like lights, a green screen and a cell phone holder, but nothing crazy.
Alright so I mentioned earlier that that one video which now has over 8 million views made me over $22,000 dollars, its time to show you how much my entire channel with over 38 million views has made me from KZbin ad revenue.
So 38 million views has made my channel over $81,000 in KZbin Ad revenue. To be honest it’s an amount of money I never thought I, as just a normal, seeming boring person could make on youtube, with seemlying nothing interesting to share with the world other then some of the wacky thoughts I act on, but somehow it worked.
So if you have always thought about trying to make KZbin videos, do it!
Heck, if you do, let me know in the comments, I’d love to check your channel out! The same if you already have a channel and are trying to grow. As a viewer, I personally love the smaller channels so much more than the big channels, they just feel so much more authentic in my opinion.
Anyways, I hope you found this video at least interesting and hopefully maybe even inspiring.
That’s all I have for you in this one, I’ll see you in the next one!
By using my Mint Mobile link, you support my channel, so if you do, thanks in advance!

It's crazy to me how (or why) some videos really take off but others get only a few hundred views (not just your channel.) I subbed to you back when you had maybe a thousand or so I think, but I checked back a while later and you had tens of thousands, now more than 100k(!) Maybe you need a little luck as well, but congrats on your success.

I was going to comment the exact same thing. I follow some great channels that have been on less than 3k subs for years, despite having some viral videos. I have no idea, but assume it's a case of catching the ever changing algorithm on the right day, with the right video title. Cool to see this channel do well

Thanks for the inspiration, man! Almost sh1t myself when I saw you made 22k in that one simple video. I guess I'll keep pushing forward with my channel. It gets disheartening when so few views trickle in. I guess it's better to not delete things, when we think they're not doing well. 👍

Really inspiring video. I started my channel about 3 months ago. It was going well with one video getting 12k views and quickly 500 subscribers. The last month everything stopped, like KZbin hate me 😂 This video here is giving me hope to continue posting videos. So thank you Sir.

OMG, after seeing the title I feared that this channel would become in one of those channels of influencers promoting crypto scams(sadly, that has happened to multiple personal development channels). I'm happy to see that this was not the case ^^.
