If you are considering buying a campervan, I would strongly recommend a visit to Wellhouse at Barnsley - it's fascinating (and reassuring!) to see what goes on behind the scenes. My visit confirmed my initial positive impression from the company's website and I am now in the queue awaiting my purchase!

Philip. Have you been given a rough time scale from ordering to completion?

@@hondamonkeyboy Hi - yes, early May, but the latest Wellhouse Newsletter (just received) explains that they are being swamped with orders, and as at mid-Oct they are nearing Jul 21 for build slots (even with build capacity being increased from Jan) - they have also run out of second-hand vans. Apparently campervans (which can double as a car) are proving to be a really popular holiday option, given the present uncertainty about travel plans and hotel and travel bookings.

@@philipwest6331 Thank you for your extremely speedy and very informative reply. Given all that we are experiencing at the moment that all seems very reasonable.

I own a high spec low mileage Alphard 3.5 that's beautiful. I would end up having a heart attack seeing the beautiful leather motorised seating and high resolution entertainment system being pulled out for MDF inserts. I'd rather buy a motorhome. I can see your standards are high though. I suppose an old Alphard that's already been enjoyed - I see you're using 15 year old plus vehicles, (which are cheap imports) yet the finished price is high. I've seen DIY conversion kits for £1500 which might make more sense on old vehicles.

nice if you have the money.

That goes for anything you muppet. But the Alphards for example are twice the van ( well car really ) and half the price of an equivalent VW conversion!!

Do you really need 15mm thick cabinets they must be weighty units.

They use special boarding - amazingly light, rigid and strong. It's not at all like regular plywood laminate at all and is purpose designed for these vehicles.
