"Man Acts" To be a human is to be oriented to a goal. You get to choose that goal, based on what you value, constrained only by reality itself. A grave responsibility and an immense opportunity, but only towards yourself. You are free, you are a subject only in the sense that you are part of reality. Value is subjective, meaning is subjective, even motion is. You are as much the centre of the universe, of meaning and value, as any other, and any other as much as you. That lesson, and the knowledge that "good" has to do with "properly aligned with reality", reality with YOU and the others in it, are to me the basis of finding the beauty and humour in this wonderful, terrible circus.
