honestly i hate 99 percent of the digital stuff being added to cars. I shouldnt have to pay hundreds of dollars to fix something that could very simply be mechanical (think of all the knobs and internal levers that have been replaced with expensive mini mother boards and wires, as well as whole digital screens [like ac/car locks/mirrors/windows/media players].) It sucks, any person should be able to fix thier own components and property with followable tutorials. Not only does it allow the consumer to keep thier property for longer, but it also stimulates the economy by giving small car shops more work (a car xan be fixed by a layman vs being sent back to the car company to be fixed in several months by machines, specialists, and company laborers.)

@@sirentyper4457 knobs and levers? No. Not even close. Almost impossible to replace microchips on motherboards that aren't used to that level of power draw and heat fluctuation. It'll eventually break, and with physical Knobs and levers, you can replace them. With tech, you need to ship it out and rebuild proprietary tech that costs significantly more than general market stuff. I get your point. All the tech they add is ridiculous and drives cost up unnecessarily, but it's definitely not simple knobs, more like custom ordered shit tech

I guess the sad part of this story is that you could make extremely big engines run on 100% hydrogen. The technology is there in couple of years. If they had played their cards differently, this would have not been a hoax. All they had to do it to partner up with the big engine manufacturers to make the development side of the engines. What about the batteries...You don't need it. Make it hydrogen-electric drive - if diesel-electric works on locomotives, you can make it work on trucks with hydrogen. And stop trying to make the truck futuristic.

The futuristic design is for aerodynamic efficiency, as much as i love my old school long nose Pete's, theyre like a cinder block rolling down the road, its just kinda dumb. Trucking is all about travelling the furthest distance for the least cost, so miles per gallon is everything, Diesel, Electricity, or in Hydrogen's case, water, you still need to refuel something, and are using some sort of energy, efficency is everything.

Updates since his indictment - In November 2021 he sold off $300 million worth of stock in Nikola he still owned, but he was still worth $1 billion according to Forbes - In December 2021 he asked for two charges of misleading investors to be dropped because "He did not know the statements he made would lead to criminal charges". This is after he tried throwing out one of the charges also in November 2021 with a different federal judge but was denied - Just four days before Christmas 2021, the SEC forced the Nikola company to pay $125 million in a settlement with the SEC against fraud allegations, which will be distributed to the investors he defrauded. The company stated it will seek reimbursement from Milton himself -Shortly after New Year's 2022, both Nikola and Tesla agreed to drop their lawsuits against each other -Jan 16, 2022, updates show he tried to gain access to the very vehicles he used to defraud investors to rebuke those accusations, but the judge presiding denied those requests. This includes the Badger, Nikola One, another UTV prototype, and a hydrogen demonstration station, all currently located in Phoenix, Arizona -June 2, 2022, he voted against Nikola's vote to increase the amount of shares the company will have, throwing the decision into limbo. The stated reason is to raise capital for the company, but he believes the intention is to dilute the amount of shares Milton owns, reducing his influence over the company

I was so genuinely sad to hear that this was a scam -- I didn't have any money in it but when I heard supposed details about it I was so psyched. It sounded genuinely plausible, and with how much solar is possible in AZ I bet it would be without a conman at the helm.

Anyone that's so creatively bankrupt that they name their EV company "Nikola" should be setting off alarms in everyone's heads. It's pathetically derivative.

It's not lack of creativity but trying to associate it with the success of Tesla. But that's a red flag too of course. If you're actually good you don't need to bring up others. Like Holmes imitated Steve Jobs and the product turned out as fraud too
@CharlesVanNoland2 жыл бұрын
@@tomlxyz Right, it's creatively bankrupt. They can't create their own success, desperately trying to ride on Tesla's coattails. Red flags man! We're in agreement that the ideal course of action is to just make a good product/service that speaks for itself, then it doesn't matter wtf your company's name is. This is another sillyclown startup style venture that will crash and burn because the people involved don't know wtf they're doing. At least that's my take. Hopefully they make a great EV but it already isn't looking good just by their stupid name choice ripping off Tesla. Who does that who isn't a fool?

lol, a startup founder putting their buddies into critical roles and then turn into flaming jokes because of it is the STANDARD way it is done. Stories abound. I believe the Juicero "Lead Designer" was a motorcycle mechanic. Several of the C-suite at Lily Drones (you HAVE to profile them, btw) was just the founder's friends, and had unrelated degrees and no experience. On and on. Hey, the joke's on us. Holmes was considered a Jobs-level visionary, lived like a billionaire, and has never spent a day in jail.
