Thank you for explaining calcium vs grease! I never knew thought about using an alkaline product.....just kept scrubbing with a de-greaser. 🥵
@TheFeldhamster3 жыл бұрын
Your degreaser probably *is* an alkaline product. And you might not want to use oven cleaner on all surfaces, because oven cleaner is really harsh. But there is another trick: first, wipe a sticky surface with dried on grease (like on the top of kitchen cupboards) with oil (! yes, oil), then, once the sticky stuff comes loose, use dishwashing detergent to finish. Oil works well for degreasing. Eg. after you have worked on your car or bike and have black grease on your hands, the quickest way is to wash with WD40, then wash off the WD40 with soap. No scrubbing needed. You can also use WD40 on some surfaces (eg everything steel and glass) but not on certain plastics because it will ruin them, so be careful what you put it on.
@patdaddymusic3 жыл бұрын
@@TheFeldhamster do you mean motor oil or cooking oil?🤔👍
@TheFeldhamster3 жыл бұрын
@@patdaddymusic cleaning grease works with any oil but I used a cheap cooking oil (don't use your expensive extra virgin olive oil) to clean the grease from the top shelves in my kitchen. I'm not sure if I would use a very heavy oil like motor oil to clean a kitchen because while it would work to "dissolve" the grease, you still have to wipe and wash off the actual oil afterwards with something soapy, like dishwashing detergent. So, a light oil is better. Like, a cheap cooking oil or idk, Ballistol, that's a gun oil. The whole thing with the oil is a trick I picked up from mechanics, they have that oily rag for a reason. They wipe the sticky black grease from their hands with it and then wash the oil off with soap.
