Not going to lie, my attention span for some informational home construction videos was pretty short but when I stumbled across yours it kept my attention, you do an amazing job of providing information. It reminds me of being on a jobsite and just walking around with a friend explaining what's happening.

This is very informative. I know absolutely nothing about the home building process, I like this! Thank you. In the very beginning of constructing a home, does it matter if it rains a lot, or does it matter? It rains a lot where I live, and I was wondering if at certain points during the building process if rain can cause delay? With social distancing, is it taking longer to construct a home, or about the same?
@TyWilde4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment & for your excellent questions. Rain can certainly make things messy, but it usually doesn't slow things down too much. That being said, they can't pour concrete in the pouring rain especially things like a basement floor, a garage floor or the driveway. Most of the trades will work in the rain & then of course once they get the roof on the rain won't slow anything down. In Utah, the coronavirus hasn't really slowed anything. I'm assuming its the same in most places. Best of luck to you & please let me know if you have any other questions.

Fascinating video! Thanks for the walkthrough. Interesting to contrast this to the construction style back home where mostly bricks and concrete is used although the country is not particularly rich (gpd per capita of $4000). Is this building style good for climates outside of America? With the exception of natural disasters, what about common things like what about termites, humidity, etc. How does that affect this construction style? Edit: I love you explanation btw. Everything you've said has been so awesome and insightful
@TyWilde5 жыл бұрын
Basqhetti Says Thanks for watching my video, the compliment, and your question. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I can answer your question thoroughly. My guess is that this type of home could be built anywhere with a similar climate. I know that you can’t do basements in areas where you can get a lot of water so it doesn’t work around lakes and obviously near the ocean. Termites it seems like you always have to keep your eye out for them. Hopefully, this helped.

Thank you for the video. I’m a newly licensed termite inspector in the Bay Area, CA. I have some construction background, but not enough to know what I must know for this trade. Do you have any videos regarding more knowledge in that field? Perhaps wood members and framing? I appreciate it! Lars M

How long does it take for home builders to build a house?
@TyWilde5 жыл бұрын
Luis Ramirez Usually 100 to 120 days. But, from the time you write a contract and make all of your selections and permit goes to the city, and all of that, I can take eight or nine months.

Hey great video very informing, just wondering how much does it cost to make the land ready
@TyWilde5 жыл бұрын
BigZ - Thanks for your comment. I actually don’t have a clue, but I’m sure it varies significantly depending on how many home sites are being developed at a time. This particular community was over 200 homesites. Sorry, that’s probably not the answer you were looking for, but it’s the best I can do. Hope you have a great day today!

Question when they install the countertops do they also install the sinks and the toilets all together and when do they install the door knobs on the doors
@TyWilde4 жыл бұрын
First of all, thanks for watching my video & for your great questions. The sinks and counter tops are usually installed pretty close to the same time. Toilets can be done a little before or after, but usually the plumber does all of those sort of things at the same time. Door knobs are usually installed after they paint the home.

I always wanted to know, do you use different crews for different phases of it, or is it mostly the same people?
@TyWilde4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your excellent question. A custom home builder might do a lot of the work themselves, but most builders use different people/trades for all the different parts of the project.

But what was the cost of building this? With Labor and supplies included? If you don’t mind telling me
@TyWilde4 жыл бұрын
Tommy Fame I used multiple homes to shoot this video. I also shot this video about 2 years ago. So things have changed a lot here in Utah. I’m not sure what the cost was, but at the time these homes were built, they were selling in the $375,000 range. Now they’re closer to the $450,000 range.

If the cabinets are placed before the flooring do you use anything to cover up the gap between the floor and cabinets or no?
