Imagine how cool it would be if we had people people like Karen who, instead of being devoted to themselves, used their Karen energy to hold people in power accountable. That would be pretty awesome I think.

Felt kinda dumb that a party of "halfbaked heroes" could take down a monumental figure of D&D like that. Not like I would know if he is. Mammon is just such a classical name. So I just assume he is on the level of Tiamath and Bahamut in some way.

I also noticed 400,000 was pronounced 'forty-thousand' After going back and listening again, the cleric brought himself back to consciousness, casting that spell on himself while being knocked out, and the paladin was flying near the ceiling, but still had to swim up out of the sea of gold, being in two places at the same time. Since I first listened to this while falling asleep the night before reading the video, if I hadn't fallen asleep by this point in the video, it was confusing to me how that could happen, having only been listening and not looking.

Just try to be flexible enough to bend the story if your players do something unexpected or actually succeed at something they really should have failed at- improvising scenes like that in a positive way will make your campaign legendary. Good luck!

Honestly, the thing to remember about DMing is flow. You present a situation, or five, or twenty, and your players choose how and if to resolve it. Sure, you can cheat to try and make them resolve it this way or that, but ultimately, if they want to try and talk the necromancer out of doing necromancy, that's what they're going to do. If they ask to do something cool, say yes unless you have a good reason to say no. And honestly, just have fun. I wish you luck!

Good luck man, current 5e dm here, ive been dming for about a year and a half now, the most important things are improv, rule of cool, and remembering that your goal isn't to tell your players a story, but to instead act as narrator to the story the players create, hope that helps!

She was not thrilled by this realization, I always get a chuckle out of it, and just yesterday I was telling her how I was mentioning how funny the situation was to some coworkers and she says how it's not fair and she's not like that and I replied with narrowing my eyes and saying, "That's a real Karen thing to say Karen..." Hey man, I just want to get this out there since I have been binge watching your videos since a week or so and usually I can't bear to read, let alone listen to some of the horror stories you narrate, but you make them bearable. I mean this, sincerely as a compliment, not in a 'you're able to make sickening things sound okey-dokey' kind of thing. I'm saying this because these stories have helped me incredibly in making a decision in my personal life. Regardless of who or if there was 'someone in the wrong', your videos have inspired me to drop out of a gaming group I've been a part of for a few years. To quote a quote you quoted 'no D&D is better than bad D&D', and while the RP or other activities don't warrant a horror story, you've reminded me that it's important to take care of yourself, even if that means you sometimes have to make a difficult decision. So, thank you good man, I've been thoroughly enjoying your videos and look forward to see more stuff from you. :)

Notes from a NG human Idiot; Greetings from lovely Restenford(it's a relativly good day here...)! As much as some folks(myself included) dislike "Karen" and "Craig" types, they can be suprisingly useful if they use their powers for good.... May your pantheon Ever favor you(especially in these trying times), Baron Trevelyan of Restenford P.S.: So was the Town named Sears-burg? It sounds an AWEFUL lot like it....

I actually like the idea of being able to defeat an archdevil like this! Also gives way to another neat idea of how, because each layer of hell needs an archdevil, either the Narzugon or, if the player was willing, the wizard becoming the new archfiend of Minauros.

I just started playing dnd, about 7 or so sessions into LMoP and I just found CritCrab. This story is just like when I used Shadow Blade on my trifling warlock surprising my DM my party members and the low level demon who tried to gank me. It’s actually a really cool story and I really want to share it sometime

Lmao the human nugget here in the beginning is precious. "...seashells without any inherent value". In reality, throughout human history and across civilizations, the cowry shell was the most widely abd frequebtly used form of currency in human history. More than flint or even gold.

I just had this video casually in the background while toasting some bread for a midnight snack... and.. well... the bread caught on fire. Now I'm just sitting in my livingroom with a kitchen full of smoke and some burned bread stuck in a toaster in the garden at 1:43 am contemplating my life choices...

Even the sheer lunacy of 'asking for the manager' in the nine hells aside.... Because it could work at a pinch. An archfiend that summons imps.... That can be counter spelled.... And who ISENT expecting to be double-crossed? Yea. No. xD The pit fiends at the door should have joined the fight, if nothing else. I can understand the DM not wanting to go for a full TPK but realisticly thats what should have happened. Good on him for accomadating his party though. Not all heroes wear capes.

This story sounds to me like the party pulled the Karen card as a half-joke (sort of an "I got nothing else right now lol" moment), but the GM also decided to run with it and neither wanted it to stop. Amazing playoffs XD

This was an amazing story, but I think my favourite part about the narrative was Minauros being presented as a massive, old-fashioned bank staffed by overworked devils. That, and the description of Mammon's "office" was incredible. If the rest of the glory stories this week are as good as this one, I can't wait to hear them.

I died laughing at the audacity of complaining about the customer service in the Third Layer of Fucking HELL! There are some places you shouldn't expect good service! XD Getting as much Exp for getting a demon fired as if they killed it was a cherry on top of the sheer absurdity.
