For anyone wondering why that, unlike most convicted mangaka, that the author of Act Age was so swiftly canceled, we have to rewind back to a few weeks before In weekly Shonen Jump, there's a segment were the author leaves comments, as seen at 1:07 in the video, whether it be about their life or the story, and the author of Act Age was no different as he would go on to stated that he was happy that the money from the manga helped him get a bike a.k.a. the bike used to commit his crime Once people started looking back on that quote, Shueisha had to drop him because he directly stated that he was using his new found fame/money to commit these crimes. So they couldnt keep him even if they wanted to, because he incriminated himself and they wanted nothimg to do with him Edit: It also didnt help that the series was very tame and repsectiable to its female characters, particularly Kei the MC, amid the plethera of fan service series, so to see a the author do such things and have the MC be a young girl.made many question what his intentions and thus muddling the series for a lot of people
@RavenCloak135 ай бұрын
No the fact it didn't have a lot of fanservice means it was more likely he was like this since all the other ones who were conflicted and found out for such things always are like that. It's exceedingly rare that an authors work matches them as a person. See how all the people caught with German distributed CP were non-lolicon creators. Also see the English Jujitsu Kaisen translator still being able to get a job after being deported from Japan after going into the all girls elementary school he worked at locker rooms and taking pictures of the girls, getting found, that being on his record yet Viz still gave him a job till he did it again on US soil and then quietly removed him.

Sometimes, you can separate the artist from the art for some things. But for me, there is a lot of art I gave up even when I tried to justify that art was important. Rurouni Kenshin. I felt the character Kenshin was too important from how Mangakas later would use that sort of Archetype, Kenshin had for their works. Naruto and Tanjiro coming to mind, remind me of Kenshin. But then I learned the author was caught watching child porngraphy. And that's when I said nope. I had to give up Buso Renkin too. Then there's Oshi no Ko. Nothing wrong with the author, it's the art this time. The main character...makes me uncomfortable. There's a lot of stuff in that series. There was a similar series called Glass Mask. Very cool acting like anime/manga, old school shoujo. But the two leads were ages apart. Gave it up. Alice in Wonderland. He took pictures of children. And from somewhere I read over a 1000. Yeah, I'll stick with Wizard of Oz.

@@kenzor4953 You can't justify an author taking so many pictures of children, regardless whether they were fans of Alice in Wonderland or dressed up as the characters. It was to the point of obsession that raised my eyebrow. And Oshi no Ko does have multiple problems in its story. From what I hear (because I looked it up I dropped the anime early), it's an incest series. I remember watching the anime. The Doctor was 30-something when he died. His reincarnated sister was the child he was looking after in the hospital? Yo, she was 12. When the doctor was reincarnated as an idol's baby but he still retained his adult mind he was so happy to be breastfed by her. Nah, that's crazy. But maybe you think I'm only targeting mangakas or the anime industry? I gave up on Disney a long time ago. If I'm watching a video on them, it's most likely a rewrite of a movie or series they had in the past, a rant video, or a video catching up on the news and how far the company has fallen. I gave up on Channel Awesome years ago. People probably don't remember why they were so controversial in the first place, but it was bad. Neir is an amazing art that I will play in the future even with its fanservice, but it's connected universe game Drakengard?! Leonard. I'm going to take it word from word how they describe his character from Tv Tropes: His Drakengard 1.3 incarnation is still a pedophile, but he seems to lack his game counterpart's guilt over this, and it's implied he's been abusing his position of power as the beloved leader of his local village by forming a choir consisting entirely of young boys whom he is implied to have possibly molested. When the village is under attack, he chooses to protect a young boy who is already clearly dead instead of his still-alive older sister, who has to sit there and watch as Leonard (whom she had a crush on) protect her brother's body from harm over her. BRUH I'm not saying I don't have any series that I like that has questionable writing. I like Final Fantasy 13. And if you want to know the story of Final Fantasy 13, you're stuck in the Menu screen reading excerpts on Cocoon and L'cie and Fal'cie and blah blah blah Cie. Sarah (18) while not that bad in age when she's married to Snow (21) does raise eyebrows. But I love the world and it's a game where I can separate the Art from the intentions of the Artist. It just depends on how far a series or company goes to where I'm like, okay, I'mma clock out.

What is say could be me misremembering but this is what I found back then. 1. She was harassed during the production by the writer and stuck around to complete the work, after the big no no happened she didn't want to work on it anymore. 2. Japan has a very harsh view on reputation and will catch people even vaguely near in their crosshair. Nobody wants to be attached to a work that is tainted, nor would they dare to offer the writer to continue in prison. 3. The writer is the brains behind the story and I doubt the artist could replicate his writing even if she wanted to. 4. It prob isn't worth the trouble to revived the work with all the baggage from a business stand point, if it was an established writer with a huge fan base then maybe but both creators are new aspiring newbies. I hope the artist could get some recognition and work cuz her art is great, but sadly it seems that she is not, prob due to ppl not wanting to touch her with a ten foot pole due to stigma and she only had a one shot manga after the whole fiasco.

So act age is cancelled yet Ruroni Kenshin reboot wasn't?
@darken24175 ай бұрын
There is a little bit of a misunderstanding regarding the controversy. In that it isn't nearly as controversial as it is in the West, Japan simply views these things very differently. If it was on a train then it may rise to the level of controversial but this is viewed as half as bad and thus not really something they care about other than him doing his time. The mangaka is still creating manga and will continue creating manga and is even still doing this under Shueisha. Although Act-Age is indeed cancelled it is still very early to say that it will never come back. The only thing stopping it from continuing is that Shueisha holds the trademark. He wasn't fired clearly as he still works for them and they don't want to relinquish the trademark so they might just be waiting a bit. Its still very early to conclude that its over. This is not to say however that it will definitely come back. There are quite a few things getting in its way: -It was his first fully published work. -It isn't nearly as hype as you describe it as lol. -The art isn't exactly mindblowing. -The manga was fine but is solidly mid without a big fanbase to really push for it.

This is different from Ruroni Kenshin's author because jails don't care about people who own CP because it won't bring them in more money. Happens in the US, UK and such as well.
