This pump will leave you on the side of the road. Always use the stock German pump. Pierburg. You are welcome!!!

Great video! My pin came off and it took me days to figure it out. Do you think the pin comes off also because people tend to overpack the pump with tons of grease? Also, if I put the pin back in, do you think it will fall out again soon? Is there any way to keep it in place, without soldering it? Thank you!

Hey Mauricio, thanks for the comment! Mine used to fall out as well. I tried putting it back in and then putting some tape over the one side to keep the pin in. This was a cheap fix and it worked, but it didn't work long. My advice would be to just replace the pump. It's actually really cheap, and as you can see, really easy to do. But if you had to get by in a pinch, a little duct tape or even a little dap of "JD Weld" over the exit end might keep it in place till you can replace it. Cheers!

Thank you for your quick response. I just bought a new Brosol pump to replace the old Brosol. I noticed right away that the spring resistance on the new one is at least 10 times harder than the old one. This probably will mean way more pressure to the carb. I am going to be installing a fuel pressure regulator, and setting it to 2 psi, to bypass adding gaskets to the pump and/or reducing the size of the rod. I know VW purists will shake their heads, but I am tired of having issues with carb and pump. Thanks again for your excellent video and disposition.

On a generator fuel pump, the lever (flange) that the drive rod hits sits inside the mount, where as an alternator flange protrudes from the bottom. If you have the incorrect type for your car the drive rod is either too short or too long, if it is too long it can shatter the flange, if it is too short it will not make contact.

This is a video on how a mechanical fuel pump works. Different fuel pumps have different in's and different out's. I didn't want to confuse people by sayinging ALL mechanical fuel pumps have their inlet or outlet in a certain location so as not to have people put them in the wrong spot. Hence why I said, you'll want to remember which one was your in and which one was your out.
