How a Nagant M1895 works

The Nagant M1895 Revolver was a seven-shot, gas-seal revolver designed and produced by Belgian industrialist Léon Nagant for the Russian Empire.
The Nagant M1895 was chambered for a proprietary cartridge, 7.62×38mmR, and featured an unusual "gas-seal" system, in which the cylinder moved forward when the gun was cocked, to close the gap between the cylinder and the barrel, providing a boost to the muzzle velocity of the fired projectile and allowing the weapon to be suppressed (an unusual ability for a revolver).

Fun fact: it fires a 7.62X38 round, which is just 1mm short of being an ak round(7.62X39)

38 is the measurement of the length of the case which in the case of the nagant revolvers cartridge covers the entirety of the projectile where as the aks casing stops toward the base of the projectile meaning less powder on the same projectile however nearly the same length of case

Plus the rear rim diameter is much larger on the 762x39. Vastly more powder volume.

It’s a pretty ingenious design. I’m wondering how much energy/ velocity was gained with the gas seal system. I’m guessing it did make a difference if the cartridge was originally a black powder cartridge but I doubt it’s really worth the trouble with smokeless powders. Anyway I’m also guessing that the suppressor benefits were an afterthought. But it’s a fascinating design .

Can someone explain to me in further detail please? I'm having trouble figuring out why the first shot at 0:31 fires without the hammer catching on the sear, but then the follow up shot does catch and the trigger has to be pulled further for the hammer to be released.

The gun can works as a double action. The first pull is for the double action demonstration while the second pull is the single action demonstration

Can someone please tell why my nagant fires only at double action?? Would really appreciate some advice how to make it shoot at single action because I lose accuracy from the shake from the heavy trigger pull .. I can be wrong but I think that in single action , the firing pin is not hitting the primer with enough force to fire it .. Help please !!
