The focus absolutely refers to focusing on preparation and how much emphasis you put on it. Texas states maybe you roll in on Tuesday get a couple practice rounds in warm up the putt and you’re good to go. Majors you are probably getting there as early as possible to practice the course as much as you can Extra time spend mentally preparing for the course and game plan. Extra emphasis on practice putting and field work etc. Much smaller scale but I pull up to a flex start throw 10 putts and maybe a couple of drives and go play. If I go to a B tier I’m gonna make sure I get enough sleep eat before warm up substantially more etc.

I realize that disc golf is not a mainstream sport...but my gosh? when the purses are still so small that a player has to have a sponsorship deal just to be able to be on tour and survive is sad

More storylines you say? How about each team kicks 100,000 into a prize pool where the winner is determined by points of it's team. Each manufacturer picks 3 mpo and 2 fpo, most points at the end of season wins. Who's got the best equipment, eye for talent etc. Nascar does this, called Manufacturer's cup and they get the prize pool at the end of year banquet. Adding a team function to the year would give us brand fan boys some bragging rights for the offseason.

🔥 take from Mike opening segment. Competitive advantages. Even in the pro sports where they have salary caps, the agents leak the contracts details. They do that on purpose. Same as DG manufacturers. They release it when it makes sense. Sometimes it comes back to bite them. It's all marketing so we should be thankful for any solid info we do obtain. Maybe if we are lucky, we'll have a DG reporter similar to Woj that can leak more stuff strategically. The smart players will use it to their advantage

I may be an idiot but I feel like Hunter's long term plan is way better. If I was an investor that's where my money is going... start small with large payouts, awesome camera work on post, I'd add in that it initially starts as all invitational tournaments only to entice crowds to see only favorites fight it out, then worry about a live product. It may even be a broadcast company instead of youtube if the hype gets large enough

Does anyone think drones can be better used in filming live disc golf? Im not talking above the whole hole but right behind/above the disc golfer. Also have a person or stationary camera on the tee pad. That will be in a small box on the corner of the screen but the drone will be the main coverage. The audio will only come from that camera (No annoying drone sound) on the disc golfer, so you can hear the 'snap' or whip of the disc and also whatever the golfer says and have their reaction always on camera. Now the drone doesnt follow the disc but only moves forward slowly as they throw above the golfer and maybe zooms (if possible). It follows the flight until it's out of site, then switch to catch cam. Thoughts?

I think as far as marketing goes the pro tour is horrible. They should take their best event probably worlds and make it free to view. This gives people who aren’t already members a chance to see the best the product has to offer. Give you a bigger number of viewers to pitch to sponsors as well as get more people interested in subscribing to see other events. They also need to be way better about pushing promo for tournaments. Large payout to first makes people care more gives legitimacy etc. happened in esports the shift happened from hotel conference room tournaments to $1 million dollar prize pool for a tournament because investors saw the vision. Mr Beast is an absolute master that big $ amounts are so much easier to advertise and higher dollar values in titles lead to more views. It catches the eye makes people instantly interested watching someone’s life change. It’s less interesting for people on a game show (or sport) compete for $5000.

Let's be honest. What real value does anyone outside the top 50 (just a random take, insert whatever # you feel appropriate) bring to a manufacturer minus a few exceptions of course? I love Prez (just using him as the example being he won a major), great guy, but even being a major winner this year, who is out there saying, "Oh I'm going to buy X Y and Z because Prez won Champions Cup"? What would a manufacturer get back from signing most any mid or below tier player?

The tour is too focused in the NE. High jacking the tour focus away from Texas and California and gobbling up Jomez have all been steps backwards. DGN quality is like a copied VCR tape watched 1,000 times. Putting unwatchable coverage behind a paywall killed the boom and hurt all advertising models, too fast too soon. The incorporation of Europe is the best thing out of DGPT, but abandoning it's roots has clearly had it's costs. Bonehead decisions like going to Austin only to use a temp golf course next to a noisy highway when there are 10,000 better courses in the nation to pick from are just symptoms of poor leadership.

A more accurate statement would be that the dgpt and dgn could underperform any competing pro disc golf tour. The things that dgpt and dgn choose to focus on(event spectators and coverage paywall) are contrary to exposing disc golfing to would be fans and players. The open courses they choose to focus on are boring to watch. Shutting out gatekeeper and gkpro from additional tour event coverage is counterproductive.
