Brodie, I love the Pod cast...you guys are killing it. I want to say a word on the Matty-O's 4 year deal, which I am extremely happy for him. I strongly believe the video did him no favors. In this day and age with everyone so polarized in one of two directions its best to stay clear of even the perception of being political. "4 more years", it doesn't take rocket science to take that the wrong way, with a big election coming up. The court room with a hood over his head, with a crazy judge...at a time where we have a former President being attacked in 4-5 different cases, many would say unjustly. I work in Contacts for the DoD. I'm not allowed to do anything that would even give a hint of bias or give a perception of Bias in who gets awarded a Contract. I believe the same thing goes in this case. It wasn't a good idea to touch or even give a perception of being Bias one way or another. Because it can't help, only damage, his Brand...Very Bad Idea. Just my two cents. - Rick

This is the problem with ratings in lower tournaments. If there is a 1000 rated player and 2 960's in the tournament, then a bunch of 920's the top three people could easily throw tournaments that are 1030+ and they'll almost never be rated over 1010 even if they dominate the field
@billa8083 Жыл бұрын
No this happens all the time. Our local league and local c tiers have 1000 rated guys shoot 1030, 1040 ect…. Sure they also have off days and can rate 970 too. These guys consistently beat 980 players by a few strokes and consistently beat 960 guys by 5/6+ strokes.

Brodie, spot on with the rating system. There's definitely a better way, and your conversation ignited something within me to figure it out. Drug testing...strongly oppose. About ratings, you guys are arguing about different things. Simon is correct, ratings are accurate to gauge his competitiveness among those that are playing the same tour (top pros). If someone is gaming the system to get his rating up, or playing courses in a different country, or playing C tiers, Simon would take that rating with a grain of salt. But in his world among the top pros, its pretty accurate.

There is always a difference between intention and ignorance. I don't think anyone assumes Westside was being intentionally and aggressively political. But a bit tone-deaf? Maybe. It also doesn't make much sense. Why was he under a bag in the first place? The whole script is about how the fans are clamoring for him, and the company wants him, and it would be silly not to. And then they...kidnap him?

I agree with tournaments not being a good metric -- for the majority of people this is a hobby, and paying money to go get your whole weekend locked down, playing in crowded conditions, waiting around before and after, playing with strangers instead of your friends is just ... a whole different ballgame. for perspective, I'm obsessed with disc golf, i have about 7-9 different friends I play with, only 2 of whom play tourneys. Even though we buy techdiscs, watch all the form videos, nerd out on watching the tour, have and share DGN memberships, buy discs like crazy, etc.... and still no desire to play a tournament.
