I thought the same thing, but then I learned what NFT's actually are. It's like a piece of land (NFT) that you can own, in a country (on the network). Basically, you own a piece of the crypto network. There is no other piece of land (NFT) that is like yours. But your piece of land (NFT) is only worth something, if you have a reliable country (network). The (network) is decentralized, which means it's not ran by a country. That means that 1 government entity can NOT own it. It's ran by every one on the network. Basically, if you believe technology is going to be used a LOT in the future and you believe in freedom, then I highly suggest you look into it more instead of thinking it's just a picture. NFT's are not like a piece of art (they can be), but they can and do have utility to them. They are called "smart contracts", eventually, instead of going to your bank (controlled by a government) to get a document or "contract" notarized, you'll create an NFT that will never change, that is stored on a secure network, that no single government owns and can tamper with, after they take over another country.

In the early 2000s, during the height of the Martha Stewart madness, she loved her some hydrangeas. They seemed to feature in all her pics, they can be dried and still look pretty, come in blues, pinks, purples, etc. We had a huge plant in our backyard, so beautiful. We came back from a short trip and SOMEONE had come into our BACK yard and clipped EVERY SINGLE BLOOM. Who does that?!? I was so pissed. I’m still not over it.

One spring, my mom’s garden of red, yellow, and orange tulips bloomed. Amongst them was a blackish tulip. We have no idea where it came from. Thus I’ve coined the term: “Squirrel Gardening”. I explain it for the hydrangea that’s appeared in our back yard, and the clematis in the front.

You may be interested in Dumas novel 'The black tulip'. A work of part history and fiction. People have been trying to breed black tulips for centuries. The closest we've got is called, Queen of the night (although it still isn't totally black - more of a really deep purple). Perhaps yours was truly black? If so, Dumas called it "The eighth wonder of the world! If you get any more, let me know! We could get very rich lol!

if the tulip value was highly influenced by rare non-hereditary patterns and trading was done via bulbs, how did they estimate the value of a bulb claimed to turn into a candy cane flower? were there unique signs of what the end product would look like? and if no one would want to plant it because it would begin the end of the their investment, would the bulbs just eventually die or do bulbs last a really long time if not abused? it seems like an unwary buyer might easily buy some plain tulip bulb and never know they were tricked, which would be great for the scammer. scary activity...but then the power of missing out on the big thing and seeing people make real money around you..it must have been hard to resist too :-(

8:58 I heard that the tulip market collapsed because a tulip merchant with dependent daughters passed away. When executing his will, his collection of tulip bulbs was put onto the market, suddenly flooding it. All at once, supply was greater than demand and prices began to plummet downwards. Naturally, other tulip merchants became alarmed and tried to sell their own tulip bulbs, making the price go even lower. It's a very interesting slice of history to look into, unfortunately it doesn't appear that we've actually learned any lessons from it.

a lot of this info is misleading. the tulip market was more of a futures market with small margins if any required to hold a contract, so no money down. tulips also split, and could be used to provide a potential income, like an annuity. the markets were deregulated which allowed more people to get involved. when it all ended, many purchase contracts were not honoured and the government bailed out people as well.

Can you do a show on why The Nederlands have windmills ? Who invented windmills ?
@metalvideos1961
@metalvideos1961 Жыл бұрын
its simple. windmills we have to drain the lakes and stuff like that to stop flooding. and we have windmills to make bread. thats the only thing why we have windmills. although the windmills to drain the water and what not are not worked for that anymore but we still have windmills that make bread.

In 2009, in the NY Mets souvenir shop on 42nd Street in NYC, a baseball bat autographed by Jose Reyes was going for $300. Anyone but the most avid American sports buff even know who he is in 2023?

To future viewers who find themselves here this was generally the attitude amongst the older generations who grew up without internet during the early 2020's. They failed to understand the mathematics behind it or how the Byzantine generals problem was solved. They kept printing money and going into debt all while pretending it wasn't happening. This attitude is similar to how the olds viewed soviet privatization vouchers from 1992. The olds did not understand the value and sold them to the younger generation of financially literate entrepreneurs who then became the billionaire oligarchs of modern Russia.

Wow, so ageist. First of all, what Weird History said about Dogecoin was right, rather you want to admit it or not. Tbh, since he only mentioned BTC and Doge, I have a feeling it was only titled with Bitcoin so as not to confuse the non-crypto informed (of any age). Next, I didn’t grow up with the Internet (older millennial, or Xennial), and neither did my husband (solid Gen X), and we both watch crypto, trade crypto, mine crypto. And he builds miners, ffs. He’s almost 50. And he built a miner for his dad, who is a straight up boomer. So go be ageist elsewhere. Also, people are right to be afraid of these worthless NFTs that are going for crazy amounts. Buying an NFT like an Axie that you can then use to play Axie infinity to earn crypto is one thing. Paying millions for the “rights” to a meme that is available for free online is quite another. And that is scary. Finally, my 3 nephews are all Gen Z and only one of them knows anything about crypto, and when he didn’t make $ off it right away, he stopped. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@@TheBLGL so much wow, much wow, but I didn't say anything about doge, nft's or any specific crypto so stop projecting. It almost sounds as If your just throwing out stuff to show how hip, cool and with the times you are, but I think not. Comparing crypto to tulips is a false equivalency. It is the same as comparing the internet to a "series of tubes". It doesn't matter if you get it or not the technology moves on regardless. And quite frankly it sounds like your just parroting boomer talking points. So there is no need to convince some lady who got butthurt I called out her generation that wrecked the economy in the first place. And now they cannot grasp what's going on and it's ok, you had your time. Keep holding your dollars the economy looks great 👍 Stay away from tulips and those pesky bitcoins. And tell your nephews if they expect $$$ right away crypto is not for them, quite frankly they are part of the problem atm and to a lesser degree you as well, but I digress.

You know honestly in My own experience. Its been my fellow millennials who have been,, well kinda hateful. Im 37, they've been harder to explain this to. I guess until last year or this year, Elon Musk and the rest of celeb world, remember that douchery. Then just like that, everyone's a crypto expert. I'm not giving extra love to the older generation, but I've had more curiosity from that crowd. My age until recently has had a minority in crypto, the rest of our age insulted and Mocked us. Hell there was an article few years old now, ugly millennial Drew Carey looking guy, wrote it. "The ones who bought Bitcoin were too stupid to learn from the last time." It actually said stupid. The guy was a real jerk, attacking people posting, mocking the hell out of traders. Guy was definitely my age. I'm down South. Middle of Texas, can't speak for Drew Carey wannabe. Where are you from dude, shit or dudette. That could play a small roll, in our crowds. Maybe maybe.
