Tank's advice works for any industry. Im also an independent contractor, but not in the music industry. At first I worked for a company and got okay pay. Then old clients kept passing my number onto their friends who needed my help. This is entirely because Im passionate about what I do and make sure Im focussed on doing the best work I can. Do wish they would let him be a little more creative on the Nickelback songs here and there but it makes no difference to me I'll listen to whatever music they make. Listening to Daniel's stuff with his other band Martone really shows just how talented he is! Plus after seeing the doc and knowing he had an arm injury since the Dark Horse tour and played through the issues all the way up until covid and still absolutely killed it on the drums!

I love these storytime videos! You are so level-headed in talking about them, and you don't sensationalize any of the crap people may be waiting for, like Chad Kroger in this video. You just don't do that. You're not here to make yourself look cool. And I'm glad you're not hating on Nickelback. I love them, and I don't understand the hate. At all. Once they were here, in concert, in my city, and a radio station that happened to be across from the venue was talking shit. They were inciting fans (non-fans) to wait for the tour buses to pull out and go harass them. I called the radio station and ripped some intern a new one. Told them I was going to call the cops and let them know in case people actually harassed the buses. Told them how stupid and unprofessional they were. You don't do that shit to any visitors in your town. Anyway, thanks for being cool while telling the story. Thanks for all the stories. Can't wait for the next one!

my second degree of separation from Nickelback. I met a guy who became a really good friend in college about 14 years back, and he was hugely plugged into Vancouver's music scene a few years before we met and he was booking shows for several bands he was in and ran across Chad and the guys before they broke out and they were apparently a little in awe of my friend for his hustle and how many gigs he was booking and getting good crowds for so they asked him how they could do that. He gave them the basic run down, you gotta get out to the venues and meet people, network and hustle men, put in the work. I like to say he was the unsung Hero for them giving the kick in the pants to go after it. 😊

The "pod" I was in was from a GNR tour when we moved over to Maiden, We knew walking in that it was a 10 gig spot and one of their "pods" needed a break or had family issues, Most professional tour I had ever been on and everyone of their roadies could do their job in the dark. He mentioned it briefly, (DC date, Arena, where the Capitals play). For those who've set up for a show where hockey is played; to cover the ice, they use plates that when rubbed together, create massive amounts of static electricity. While working, you then proceed to get shocked a minimum of 14,000 times before the show begins. Good times.
