As cute as this is, I'm really disappointed that this is from the Costa Rica sloth sanctuary. It's basically the Sloth version of Tiger King as numerous whistleblowers have been reporting that they've been mistreating the Sloths. First off despite being billed as a sanctuary, they don't release any of them, even those that are in healthy condition. They've even been known to take in perfectly healthy sloths that happen to be in inconvenient situations (trying to cross roads and such) and then just keeping them in captivity instead of just moving them somewhere safer. Second off, the Sloths are kept in bad conditions, keeping them in small, dark, dirty cages and feeding them vegetables instead of the leaves they eat in the wild, largely out of a misplaced idea of infantilizing them which instead causes them malnutrition and dental problems because their digestive systems and teeth do not respond well to food other than leaves. Some vets have reported deaths specifically because of this diet. Many of these cages are also far too close to one another. Sloths are solitary animals and despite their appearances they can get aggressive if too stressed by prolonged contact with one another, attacking one another with their claws. And if they're not fighting they're having sex, which leads to the third problem, the sanctuary essentially breed new sloths in captivity, mixing sloths of opposite sexes. Most likely this Jimimia is one of these captive infants. They play these incidents off as "happy accidents" despite the fact that they're essentially breeding them because they know that baby sloths are gold for social media. Worse, many of these babies are being raised in terribly unsafe conditions. Jimimia contracted mange in a sanctuary, which speaks to unsanitary conditions, she's clinging to a stuffed animal instead of to her mother because captive sloth mothers often become so stressed that they attack their own children. Most young captive sloths also develop jaw deformities because they nurse from their mother and instead attempt to suckle on stuffed animals instead. This is all incredibly abusive behavior and the only reason that they get away with it is because they operate in Costa Rica, who essentially let them get away with much of anything, even while they're killing an endangered species through neglect. If you want more information, you can look into the Dodo's article on the situation, though I warn you that there are some tragic images of their mistreatment. I urge you not to give a cent to this so-called sanctuary and not fall for their cutesy act, they're just using cute sloths to line their own pockets.

If her job is to take care of sloths you'd think she'd know what she's doing, right? So why all the comments about her being rough? You don't know what a sloth looks like when it's stressed, you don't know how to clean a sloth, you've probably never touched a sloth in your life. I would just assume she knows what she's doing and you don't? It's possible that she is actually trying to be rough so the sloth doesn't become too accustomed to her. She might be trying to reduce contact with the animal, especially any contact that might make the animal trust her/like her. They're in a sanctuary so I'm guessing the animals are still free to roam in a human-free environment with occasional care. Also since they said sloths don't like baths, she might just be making it last less time for the animal that might get stressed out by being bathed. It could be anything.

There is a very big difference between being rough and harming her, and fast so it can get done quickly without her getting stressed. You can look this up. I've talked to professionals about it before. Guaranteed none of you are professionals so don't try and come at me. Sloths are literally my favorite. Also I’m seeing many comments on how this woman was bathing the sloth. I understand being concerned but these people are professionals and know what they’re doing. Not to mention I’ve seen several comments speaking about how sloths get stressed while bathing so you have to move fast, plus she seemed pretty calm. And secondly I understand wanting to make sure an animal is okay but unless the animal is being actively abused or neglected there’s no need to worry. You forget that these are animals and are much tougher than you think. So I’m sure the sloth can handle a little manhandling. She seemed pretty content so there’s no need to worry.
